{"id":202616,"date":"2025-10-10T09:34:09","date_gmt":"2025-10-10T09:34:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/202616\/"},"modified":"2025-10-10T09:34:09","modified_gmt":"2025-10-10T09:34:09","slug":"watch-spacex-launch-24-of-amazons-project-kuiper-internet-satellites-on-oct-11-after-delay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/202616\/","title":{"rendered":"Watch SpaceX launch 24 of Amazon&#8217;s Project Kuiper internet satellites on Oct. 11 after delay"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"d8766828-cb37-49e8-9b1c-694e5c1c32b9\">Amazon&#8217;s Project Kuiper broadband megaconstellation continues to grow.<\/p>\n<p>Twenty-four more <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/space-exploration\/launches-spacecraft\/amazon-launches-27-satellites-to-begin-building-huge-project-kuiper-internet-constellation\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/space-exploration\/launches-spacecraft\/amazon-launches-27-satellites-to-begin-building-huge-project-kuiper-internet-constellation\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Project Kuiper<\/a> satellites are scheduled to take flight on Saturday (Oct. 11), lifting off from Florida&#8217;s <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/33926-cape-canaveral.html\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/33926-cape-canaveral.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cape Canaveral Space Force Station<\/a> atop a <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/18853-spacex.html\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/18853-spacex.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">SpaceX<\/a> Falcon 9 rocket at 8:51 p.m. EDT (0051 GMT on Oct. 12). Launch was originally scheduled for Thursday evening (Oct. 9), but SpaceX has pushed that back by 48 hours.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-seasonal\" href=\"\" data-url=\"\" target=\"_blank\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"d8766828-cb37-49e8-9b1c-694e5c1c32b9-2\">You&#8217;ll be able to watch the action live <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.spacex.com\/launches\/kf-03\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.spacex.com\/launches\/kf-03\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">via SpaceX<\/a>, beginning about 15 minutes before launch.<\/p>\n<p>You may like<\/p>\n<p id=\"011baf6a-e559-4077-94f8-004061e9fd78\">It will be SpaceX&#8217;s third Project Kuiper launch and the sixth overall dedicated to building out the nascent network, which will eventually consist of about 3,200 satellites <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/low-earth-orbit\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/low-earth-orbit\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">in low Earth orbit<\/a> (LEO). So far, 129 of them have reached the final frontier.<\/p>\n<p>The rest will be lofted on more than 70 additional launches conducted by a variety of rockets \u2014 the Falcon 9, Arianespace&#8217;s Ariane 6, Blue Origin&#8217;s <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/40455-new-glenn-rocket.html\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/40455-new-glenn-rocket.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New Glenn<\/a> and United Launch Alliance&#8217;s <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/40250-atlas-v-rocket.html\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/40250-atlas-v-rocket.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Atlas V<\/a> and <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/space-exploration\/launches-spacecraft\/us-space-force-certifies-new-vulcan-centaur-rocket-to-launch-national-security-missions\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/space-exploration\/launches-spacecraft\/us-space-force-certifies-new-vulcan-centaur-rocket-to-launch-national-security-missions\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Vulcan Centaur<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If all goes to plan Saturday, the 24 Kuiper craft will be deployed by the Falcon 9&#8217;s upper stage at an altitude of 289 miles (465 kilometers), over a 7.5-minute stretch that begins 56.5 minutes after liftoff.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;From there, we perform initial satellite health checks and prepare to raise the satellites to their assigned altitude of 392 miles (630 km), where they will be fully commissioned as part of our operational satellite constellation,&#8221; Amazon representatives wrote in a <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aboutamazon.com\/news\/innovation-at-amazon\/project-kuiper-satellite-rocket-launch-progress-updates\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.aboutamazon.com\/news\/innovation-at-amazon\/project-kuiper-satellite-rocket-launch-progress-updates\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">mission description<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"newsletter-form__strapline\">Breaking space news, the latest updates on rocket launches, skywatching events and more!<\/p>\n<p>As on virtually every SpaceX launch, there will be action in the downward direction on Saturday as well: The Falcon 9&#8217;s first stage will touch down in the Atlantic Ocean on the SpaceX droneship &#8220;Just Read the Instructions&#8221; a little over eight minutes after liftoff.<\/p>\n<p>It will be the second launch and landing for this particular booster, <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.spacex.com\/launches\/kf-03\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.spacex.com\/launches\/kf-03\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">according to SpaceX<\/a>. The vehicle first flew Aug. 11 on another Project Kuiper launch, which happened to be SpaceX&#8217;s <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/space-exploration\/launches-spacecraft\/falcon-9-rocket-launches-amazon-project-kuiper-internet-satellites-spacex-100th-mission-2025\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/space-exploration\/launches-spacecraft\/falcon-9-rocket-launches-amazon-project-kuiper-internet-satellites-spacex-100th-mission-2025\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">100th mission of the year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p id=\"5a2c26c8-4944-459f-8acb-46985b9edbd1\">Project Kuiper isn&#8217;t the only broadband megaconstellation under construction in LEO. SpaceX&#8217;s <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/spacex-starlink-satellites.html\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/spacex-starlink-satellites.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Starlink<\/a> network already features more than 8,500 operational spacecraft, and it&#8217;s growing all the time; SpaceX has launched more than 90 Starlink missions so far this year alone.<\/p>\n<p>And China is building two megaconstellations of its own, <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/space-exploration\/launches-spacecraft\/china-launches-8th-batch-satellites-guowang-satnet-internet-megaconstellation-video\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/space-exploration\/launches-spacecraft\/china-launches-8th-batch-satellites-guowang-satnet-internet-megaconstellation-video\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Guowang<\/a> (&#8220;National Network&#8221;) and <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/china-first-launch-internet-satellite-megaconstellation\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/china-first-launch-internet-satellite-megaconstellation\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Qianfan <\/a>(&#8220;Thousand Sails&#8221;), each of which will host about 13,000 satellites, if all goes to plan.<\/p>\n<p>Editor&#8217;s note: This story was updated at 3:10 p.m. ET on Oct. 9 with the new launch date of Oct. 11.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Amazon&#8217;s Project Kuiper broadband megaconstellation continues to grow.
