{"id":202952,"date":"2025-10-10T12:51:08","date_gmt":"2025-10-10T12:51:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/202952\/"},"modified":"2025-10-10T12:51:08","modified_gmt":"2025-10-10T12:51:08","slug":"willie-peters-on-mikey-lewis-bumper-new-hull-kr-deal-amidst-nrl-clause-claim-total-rugby-league","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/202952\/","title":{"rendered":"Willie Peters on Mikey Lewis\u2019 bumper new Hull KR deal amidst NRL clause claim \u2013 Total Rugby League"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>                                        <a href=\"https:\/\/www.totalrl.com\/willie-peters-on-mikey-lewis-bumper-new-hull-kr-deal-amidst-nrl-clause-claim\/\" title=\"Permanent Link to Willie Peters on Mikey Lewis\u2019 bumper new Hull KR deal amidst NRL clause claim\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img width=\"675\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/AMZ_1156-675x360.jpg\" class=\"bestwp-post-thumbnail-single wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>WILLIE PETERS has revealed that the new five-year deal handed to Hull KR star Mikey Lewis does not contain an NRL clause.<\/p>\n<p>Lewis has quickly become one of Super League\u2019s hottest properties, with the 2024 Man of Steel once more shortlisted for the prestigious award for 2025.<\/p>\n<p>With speculation continuing to link the halfback with the NRL, however, Rovers have acted fast to nail down one of their most important players \u2013 and have done so for the next five years.<\/p>\n<p>Even then, though, Peters believes that Lewis can improve further.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI still think there\u2019s a lot of growth in him, he is growing as a player all the time,\u201d Peters said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe thing is, you can\u2019t teach what Mikey has got but he can certainly learn what others have got like Nathan Cleary and his extraordinary game management.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMikey is certainly improving but it\u2019s that part of his game such as studying the game and studying opposition players and then who knows what his ceiling could be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As Peters \u2018understands\u2019, there is no NRL clause in Lewis\u2019 contract.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy understanding is he is here for five years and has committed to the club for those five years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will let Mikey and Paul Lakin (Hull KR chief executive) give the exact details but my understanding is he\u2019s committed because he wants to be here for five years and leave his own legacy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was certainly outside interest.
