Reigning Bathurst champion Brodie Kostecki has put Shell V-Power Racing on provisional pole for Sunday\u2019s 1000-kilometre epic – but he\u2019s still unhappy over what he claims is a lack of parity progress.<\/p>\n
Kostecki claimed the tightest qualifying finish in Bathurst 1000 history where just 0.2 seconds separated first and 10th.<\/p>\n
But speaking after he claimed provisional pole over Broc Feeney by just 0.006 seconds, Kostecki was clearly unhappy with the Dick Johnson Racing\u2019s Mustang chances.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe need to get our upgrade to fix the deficit to the Camaro\u2019s \u2013 2k\u2019s an hour on average and it\u2019s a bit disappointing nothing\u2019s been done about it after a report\u2019s been published. It\u2019s just cr*p,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
When reporter Chad Neylon said he\u2019d play \u201cdevil\u2019s advocate\u201d and argue Kostecki had the fastest car on Friday, the DJR star replied: \u201cDoesn\u2019t matter\u201d.<\/p>\n

Despite his pace gripes, should the 27-year-old nail his hot lap later today he\u2019ll become the first driver in history to claim three straight pole positions from a Top 10 Shootout.<\/p>\n
On Friday, Kostecki broke his own Gen3 qualifying record, with his 2:04.0307 final lap ensuring he\u2019ll be the last man out in that Shootout.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve checked another box. We\u2019ve gotta get through Saturday and just make it to Sunday,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Thomas Randle will be the first man out in Saturday\u2019s Shootout from 5.05pm AEDT, followed by Nick Percat, Cam Hill, Cam Waters, Chaz Mostert and Cooper Murray.<\/p>\n
Anton de Pasquale will then tackle the mountain, with Ryan Wood and Broc Feeney the two drivers before Kostecki.<\/p>\n
One of the biggest names to miss the Shootout is reigning series champion Will Brown.<\/p>\n

The Red Bull Racing star could only manage 12th – but was just 0.0705 seconds off a Shootout berth.<\/p>\n
\u201cUnfortunately we just didn\u2019t have the pace. It\u2019s tight out there, two tenths to pole,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cEveryone\u2019s doing such a good job and unfortunately we were just really on the wrong side of the top 10.\u201d<\/p>\n
