Now that it is finally happening, Steph, 37, is enjoying seeing Seth, 35, every day with the Golden State Warriors — exactly like he thought he would.

“It’s been good,” Steph said after Friday’s practice. “The whole summer it was kind of rumored and teased a little bit that that could be something that could happen, that 15th roster spot, and it came down to the day after training camp pretty much when it became official.”

The pair had some fun with the brotherly love during Thursday’s open practice in front of fans at Chase Center with Steph working out in Seth’s No. 31 jersey and Seth practicing in Steph’s No. 30 jersey. The brothers have both worn No. 30 throughout their career in honor of their father, longtime NBA sharpshooter, Dell Curry.

Steph said it was Seth’s idea to pull the jersey switch before practice.

“It was actually his idea in the tunnel,” Steph said. “He didn’t want to do my idea. I said when they announce me, he should have ran out, and then when they announced him, I should have ran out. We were trying to take it to another level.”

Seth said last week he tried to buy No. 30 off Steph and wear it as his own, but Steph rejected the idea, saying he didn’t need the money. When No. 30 hasn’t been available during various stops around the league, Seth has opted to wear No. 31. Steph said he hasn’t gotten Seth’s Warriors No. 31 yet, but he would have it framed in his house soon.

“It’s coming for sure,” Steph said. “Seth’s been around the block; a couple different teams, different numbers. I have the Portland 31 jersey, I’ve got the Dallas 30, Philly 31, so I’ve got ’em all, so I’m gonna get one of these too.”

The proud older brother is just happy to have this experience with his younger brother each day and is savoring the memories the pair has already started creating together on the floor. After playing together for a year in high school — Steph’s senior year in Charlotte and in a training camp in 2013 when Seth was playing with the Warriors before going to the team’s D League affiliate in Santa Cruz — Steph is enjoying the moments they’re getting at this stage of both men’s respective careers.

“I know how he approaches the game,” Steph said of Seth. “I know how good he is. I know he can lift a locker room too. Not just that, but knows how to pick and choose his spots depending on his role and his opportunity and he always finds a way to just get it done. I know he hasn’t played yet in the preseason, but it’s cool to practice against him and see what I know has been the case for the last decade. Watched him go through his career, how he does things behind the scenes. And he gets to hang out with his nieces and nephews a little bit more too which is cool.”

The eldest Curry brother offered a sarcastic smile when asked if he had thought about wearing Seth’s No. 31 in a game this season.

“I’m sure Adam Silver would love that,” Steph said.

SAN FRANCISCO — Steph Curry always wanted to play alongside his brother Seth in the NBA.
