Canada’s Stuart Macdonald might be two good rounds away from earning an improbable PGA Tour card for next season.<\/p>\n
The Vancouver golfer is in a five-way tie for the lead after two rounds of the season-ending Korn Ferry Tour Championship in French Lick, Ind.<\/p>\n
The top 20 golfers in the season standings after Sunday’s final round earn PGA Tour cards. Macdonald, 30, entered the tournament in 50th, but would rise into the top 20 if he wins the tournament.<\/p>\n
Macdonald never has had PGA Tour status. What’s more, he received late entry to the Korn Ferry Tour this year after Denmark’s Frederik Kjettrup signed up with LIV Golf prior to the season.<\/p>\n
The top 10 golfers in the PGA Tour Americas final standings for 2024 received full Korn Ferry status for 2025. When the second-ranked Kjettrup bolted for LIV, the 11th-ranked Macdonald moved up to No. 10.<\/p>\n
Macdonald is 5 under through two rounds this week after shooting a 3-under 69 on Friday.<\/p>\n
Sudarshan Yellamaraju of Mississauga, Ont., entered the week in the 20th and final promotion spot in the season standings, but is currently projected to drop to 24th. He’s at even par for the tournament.<\/p>\n
Matthew Anderson of Mississauga and Myles Creighton of Digby, N.S. both are at 1 under. Anderson (67th entering the week) can’t get into the top 20, while Creighton (29th entering the week) still has a shot if he goes low the next two days.<\/p>\n
South Africa’s Barend Botha and Americans Neal Shipley, Peter Kuest and Caleb VanArragon share the lead with Macdonald.<\/p>\n
