Channel Nine sports presenter Danika Mason has happily announced her engagement with former NRL player Liam Knight two years after calling off her wedding with former partner Todd Liubinskas.<\/p>\n
The loved-up couple jetted off to Europe at the end of the NRL season, with the two holidaying in coastal Sardinia, Italy.<\/p>\n
On Sunday morning (Australia time), the pair uploaded a trio of pictures of the proposal.<\/p>\n
Mason posted the caption, \u201cSome exciting news\u201d, followed by a love heart emoji on Instagram.<\/p>\n
Messages began to flow through for the two, including from journalists and rugby league stars.<\/p>\n
Mason\u2019s co-host on the Today Show, Karl Stefanovic said: \u201cYay. So good. Congrats.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sunrise sports presenter Katie Brown said: \u201cAw this is awesome, congratulations guys!!\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAhhh this is amazing!! Congratulations xx,\u201d Fox League reporter Darcie McDonald said.<\/p>\n
Former South Sydney Rabbitohs teammates Cody Walker and Josh Mansour also congratulated the two.<\/p>\n
The pair started dating in February 2024, a few months after Mason called off a wedding with ex-partner Liubinskas.<\/p>\n
They called off their wedding after being in a relationship for more than three years and getting engaged in July 2021.<\/p>\n
At the time Mason said the engagement had fallen apart after a breakdown in trust.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt certainly was an emotional rollercoaster,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen someone hurts you like that, you experience all the emotions from sadness to shock to anger. But sometimes you just have to get through it. You\u2019ve got no option, really \u2026 People would ask me, \u2018Are you OK?\u2019 And I\u2019d say, \u2018Not right now, but I will be.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
After the wedding was called off, The Daily Mail revealed that personal trainer, Liubinskas asked Mason to hand back her diamond engagement ring because it was a family heirloom.<\/p>\n
The masthead also reported the Channel Nine star kept the $1.5 million Maroubra home that she had shared with her ex-fiance.<\/p>\n
Mason and Knight\u2019s relationship took a challenging turn at the beginning of the year after he moved to England to join Super League club Hull FC in March.<\/p>\n
The forward was rewarded for his excellent form at the start of the 2025 season with a 12-month contract extension.<\/p>\n
Knight, who formerly played for the South Sydney Rabbitohs, Manly Warringah Sea Eagles, Canberra Raiders, and Canterbury Bulldogs impressed Hull with his “powerhouse” status.<\/p>\n
At the time Knight said he looked forward to staying on in the UK.<\/p>\n
“I\u2019m stoked to be staying here \u2013 I really love this club and I\u2019m really excited to see what we can keep building over the next 12 months,” he said.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Mason has continued to shine within her Channel Nine roles, presenting sports news for the Today Show and NRL coverage.<\/p>\n
