{"id":207499,"date":"2025-10-12T09:16:09","date_gmt":"2025-10-12T09:16:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/207499\/"},"modified":"2025-10-12T09:16:09","modified_gmt":"2025-10-12T09:16:09","slug":"aflw-draft-2025-east-fremantle-prospect-maya-louvel-finn-leaving-no-stone-unturned-in-pursuit-of-dream","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/207499\/","title":{"rendered":"AFLW Draft 2025: East Fremantle prospect Maya Louvel-Finn leaving no stone unturned in pursuit of dream"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"css-1ix6vwn-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">East Fremantle draft prospect Maya Louvel-Finn has left no stone unturned as she seeks to cap a stand-out season with an AFLW opportunity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1ix6vwn-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">The under-18 All-Australian selection, who also finished third overall in the WAFLW fairest-and-best, put her hand up for a spot at the top level of the game at the AFLW draft state combine on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1ix6vwn-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">Louvel-Finn, who recorded a personal best in the 20m sprint, said merely wearing the AFLW-issued draft uniform had been enough to get her excited for the prospect of having her name called in December\u2019s draft.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1ix6vwn-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">But while a superb season for the Sharks at WAFLW level after returning from a torn ACL has put her firmly in the frame for selection, Louvel-Finn said she was still doing everything possible to maximise her chances.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1ix6vwn-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cThe feedback has been for me to focus on the little things. I wanted to work on my endurance, which I\u2019ve improved heaps on over the past couple months,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1ix6vwn-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cThey\u2019ve just basically told me to keep working, don\u2019t stop. Footy fundamentals, just the classics, keep improving on them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1ix6vwn-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cI was so happy when I got the call that I was invited to the state combine. That was the goal, just to get there.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1ix6vwn-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cI wanted to be able to get there and showcase on my talents and what I can do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1ix6vwn-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">While she may be a proud East Fremantle player, Louvel-Finn admitted it was a different shade of blue it would be a dream to don.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1ix6vwn-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cI go for Carlton, so it\u2019d be a dream to be able to play there. It\u2019s been a long-term goal of mine to be able to reach that point,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1ix6vwn-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cI\u2019m just hoping that I\u2019ve done all the best I can, hopefully that gets seen. Credit: Stefan Gosatti\/AFL Photos\/via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1ix6vwn-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">Louvel-Finn said it was a Dockers favourite who she tried to model her own game on.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1ix6vwn-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cI\u2019ve always said Emma O\u2019Driscoll is one of my favourite players. She\u2019s a backy like me, I look up to her. We have quite similar traits in the way we play,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1ix6vwn-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cMy speed comes in handy.
