Mr Hines said.

“For Monday that stretches right from the south-east coast … up into the interior, up into the central tablelands and really pushes right across the state out to the far west and through the Cape York Peninsula.

“However, even though all of these places have a chance of thunderstorm, we’re certainly not going to see storms in all of these areas.

“When they develop, they will be fairly patchy.”

He said there was a “slight” risk of severe thunderstorms for the south-east on Monday afternoon.

“There will be big gaps in between the stormy areas, so actually for large parts of Queensland, it will shake out to be a fairly fine few days — quite warm and sunny with little to no rainfall”

The bureau has advised people to watch the weather radar and any warnings it issues.

Minimal rain on horizon

Mr Hines said the mercury will return to average this week for much of the state, before warmer temperatures arrive again next weekend.

“It’s fair to say the south-east has had a few warm days in the last couple of weeks, but those temperatures are coming down a little bit,” he said.

Apart from storms delivering isolated rainfall, there’s not much moisture forecast anytime soon.

“Most of the rain in the coming seven days looks to be driven by thunderstorms,” Mr Hines said.

“Storms tend to just bring those very hit and miss variable rainfall totals.

“Exactly underneath where those storms form, we could easily see between 30 and 50 millimetres of rain, and it could come down really quickly.

“In between the storms, little to no rain is expected over the coming five to seven days.”

The dry weather means the bushfire danger remains high, particularly in northern parts of the state.

Fire bans are in place for several regions from Townsville to the South Burnett.

Queensland is in for more sunny weather with the possibility of some thunderstorms this week. The Bureau of…

[4
64,63,61838,44,128698,128697,128696,61837,128699,128700
post-208702","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-australia","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-bom","tag-news","tag-qld-forecast","tag-qld-weather","tag-queensland-forecast","tag-queensland-weather","tag-thunderstorm-in-qld","tag-whats-the-weather-in-qld
["GET
