\u201cIt\u2019s just a name that won\u2019t stop popping up,\u201d Herald Sun reporter Josh Barnes said on Fox Footy\u2019s Trading Day.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs far as we know, he\u2019s not interested in being traded. As far as we know, officially, Collingwood isn\u2019t interested in trading him. But his name just keeps coming up when you make calls during trade week.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople say they\u2019re hearing things about him but at the moment there\u2019s nothing concrete to it. <\/p>\n
\u201cThere were whispers potentially St Kilda was interested, at the moment there\u2019s nothing to that.<\/p>\n
\u201cRight now, Jordan De Goey is staying at Collingwood. But Collingwood doesn\u2019t have a pick before No. 39 in the draft at the moment. So if they want to get anybody of worth in, they\u2019re going to have to play with futures or send someone out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kangaroos skipper Jy Simpkin is one of those players Collingwood has been exploring as the midfielder assesses the trade market.<\/p>\n
But the Kangaroos have reportedly set a massive price of two first-round picks for Simpkin, who\u2019s on a lucrative salary believed to be worth as much as $1 million for the next four seasons.<\/p>\n
It cast doubts around a Simpkin move, unless North lowers its asking price.<\/p>\n
\u201cIts seems like their asking price is too steep. Collingwood isn\u2019t going to give two first-round picks for Jy Simpkin, plus he has a pretty hefty salary,\u201d Fox Sports News reporter David Zita said on Trading Day.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt doesn\u2019t seem like he\u2019s getting much interest at the moment. But this isn\u2019t a situation that\u2019s become untenable and if he went back it would bee awkward.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is just something that\u2019s been bubbling away as a possibility and just doesn\u2019t seem like there\u2019s been enough interest \u2014 and certainly not enough interest at that price range.\u201d<\/p>\n
Brownlow medallist Gerard Healy added of Simpkin: \u201cHis problem is if you don\u2019t demand a spot in the midfield of a side on the bottom of the ladder, it\u2019s hard to see how you can demand a huge transfer fee.\u201d<\/p>\n
Barnes doesn\u2019t think Collingwood is willing to go over and above to get the 28-year old.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not sure they\u2019re really investing time in getting recourses for Jy Simpkin,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s the kind of player that\u2019s a free hit, you get him if you have the pick and it works out for you.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t think they are working around the clock to get him. <\/p>\n
\u201cNorth Melbourne want to keep him as the captain and he\u2019s a good leader.
