\nPhiladelphia, Penn. \u2013 The Fordham women’s tennis doubles team of Nevena Kolarevic<\/a> and Julianne Nguyen<\/a> advanced to the championship finals at the 2025 ITA Northeast Regionals at the University of Pennsylvania. The two will take on Penn State’s Olivia Dorner and Maiko Uchijima on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m.

\n“I’m really proud of the grit and competitiveness\u00a0we showed against the\u00a0best tennis players in the region,” said head coach Michael Sowter<\/a>. “For those not familiar with college tennis, the ITA Regional Championships is the toughest event in the northeast. The tournament\u00a0hosts all the top competitors from 21 different NCAA Division 1 institutions so the results this weekend are a significant accomplishment for the program. To place two singles players in the Round of 16; one doubles team in the final; and finish with a 6-1 record against Ivy league competition; this has never been done before in the history of Fordham women’s tennis. I’m excited for the final tomorrow and hope all the Rams can watch at 1 PM.”

\nKolarevic and Nguyen advanced to the finals after four straight wins advanced the pair to the semifinals where they took a hard fought decision from Delaware’s Maryia Hrynashka and Paulina Jurkowska. After dropping the first set, 6-4, the Fordham duo came back to win the second, 6-3, and the tiebreaker, 10-8.

\nAside from the success in doubles competition, the Rams also had two singles players advance to the Round of 16 at the championship. Paola Dalmonico<\/a>, who advanced out of the qualifying round, joined Kolarevic in playing in the Round of 16. Dalmonico won two matches in the qualifying round to move on to the main draw where she won her first two matches to make it to the Round of 16.
