Formula 1 driver Carlos Sainz has opened up about his close
\nfriendship with cycling superstar Tadej Pogacar<\/a>, fresh off the Slovenian\u2019s
\nextraordinary end to 2025, a run that saw him win the World Championships, the
\nEuropean Championships, and a fifth straight Il Lombardia<\/a> in three consecutive
\nweekends. On each occasion, poor Remco Evenepoel was left to settle for second.<\/p>\n

Sainz, now in his first season with Williams after four
\nyears at Ferrari, told GP Blog that his bond with Pogacar has become one of his
\nmost genuine connections since moving to Monaco. \u201cYes, of those of us who live
\nhere in Monaco now, well, I’d say he’s one of my best friends right now, one of
\nthe ones I see the most. We go out to dinner together a lot, we go cycling.\u201d<\/p>\n

The two have been spotted on caf\u00e9 rides and coffee stops,
\nthough Sainz admits the pace is more Poga\u010dar than pedestrian. \u201cI always say, we
\ndon’t go cycling, he goes cycling with me, because it’s a different level of
\ncycling, and we go for coffee, we go for focaccia, and we catch up, we talk
\nabout our sports. He’s a big follower of mine and of Formula 1, and we have a
\ngreat time, honestly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Their friendship has become a small but charming overlap
\nbetween the worlds of motorsport and cycling, both athletes bonded by a shared
\nrespect for each other\u2019s craft and mentality. Pogacar, now a double world
\nchampion and five-time Il Lombardia winner, continues to redefine dominance in
\nhis sport, Sainz, meanwhile, reached the podium at the recent Baku Grand Prix,
\nsecuring Williams\u2019 first top-three finish since 2021.<\/p>\n

\u201cI admire him so much because he’s a super humble, super
\napproachable person,\u201d Sainz added. \u201cHe’s a very down-to-earth guy, I don’t know
\nhow to describe him. He’s one of the best athletes I’ve ever met, and having
