Starting his first overseas season with 20.0 points per game in two winning efforts for Bahcesehir College Istanbul in the BKT EuroCup Regular Season, Malachi Flynn is hoping for more of the same all the way to a championship, which would secure the Istanbul side a spot in next year\u2019s EuroLeague.<\/p>\n

\u201cAbsolutely,\u201d the 27-year-old point guard told Eurohoops when asked about the team\u2019s main goal for the 2025-26 campaign. \u201cThat\u2019s what we\u2019re all here for. Obviously, we\u2019ve got to go out game by game and prove it. Nothing\u2019s going to be given to us, but I think we definitely have that potential.\u201d<\/p>\n

Naturally, his strong performances have already sparked interest from other European clubs.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo be honest, I\u2019m not really worried about what\u2019s being said,\u201d Flynn said. \u201cThe main thing is what\u2019s going on within these walls \u2013 who\u2019s on the team \u2013 and I\u2019m committed to this team. I think we\u2019ve got a pretty good thing going right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

The conversation moved from comparing life in Istanbul to his previous stops in Toronto and New York during his NBA career, to what led him to take the leap to Europe.<\/p>\n

\u201cComing overseas, the biggest thing people told me was, \u2018Just embrace it,\u2019 and be open to new experiences,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cTalking to Nemanja [Bjelica, head of basketball operations] and Coach [Marko Barac], it just felt like a great opportunity. And talking to people from back home who\u2019ve played in Turkiye \u2013 and in Istanbul specifically \u2013 they told me it\u2019s a really good situation, especially for your first year overseas,\u201d added the native of Tacoma, Washington.<\/p>\n

After scoring a personal NBA best of 50 points with the Detroit Pistons<\/a> in 2024, Flynn was limited to just four games with the Charlotte Hornets<\/a> last season. In total, he\u2019s appeared in 223 NBA games, suiting up for the Hornets<\/a>, Pistons<\/a>, New York Knicks<\/a>, and Toronto Raptors<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou want to plan out the future, but staying present is important \u2013 you never know what\u2019s going to happen,\u201d he said when asked about a possible NBA return. \u201cLooking back, I didn\u2019t know I\u2019d be here five years ago. If someone had told me then I\u2019d be playing overseas, I don\u2019t know what I would\u2019ve said. So I\u2019m just staying open to new opportunities and making the best of it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
