However, the company could already be too late to the XR game, as its most important rival is expected to launch its second-generation headset soon.

Apple is ready to launch its second-generation Vision Pro headset

Recent reports claimed that Samsung will announce its first XR headset on October 21 and that it will be named the Galaxy XR. A report from Bloomberg now claims that Apple plans to announce at least three new devices this week. One of those devices could be the second-generation Vision Pro headset powered by the M5 chip. It could also have a more ergonomic head strap.

If this information is true, Apple could launch its second-generation XR headset before Samsung even announces its first. This would help Apple maintain its lead in the XR headset segment.

Apple’s M5 chip is expected to be fabricated on TSMC’s third-generation 3nm process node (N3P). It could be significantly faster than the first-generation Vision Pro that used the M2 chip made using TSMC’s second-generation 5nm process.

In comparison, the Galaxy XR headset is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chip. It is fabricated on Samsung Foundry’s first-generation 4nm process (4LPX). It uses Cortex-A78C CPU cores designed for smartphones and were introduced five years ago. So, it is likely that the Snapdragon chip is slower than even the M2 chip used in the first Apple Vision Pro.

With a slower launch and a weaker chip, it remains to be seen how Samsung plans to compete with Apple’s Vision Pro. The Galaxy XR will be the world’s first headset based on the Android XR OS, and Gemini could help the headset beat the Vision Pro with better AI performance and integration.

Two years after teasing its first extended reality (XR) headset, Samsung might finally be ready to launch it.…

[19
1337,64,63,130213,32319,105,238,239,240
post-211842","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-virtual-reality","tag-apple","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-galaxy-xr","tag-project-moohan","tag-technology","tag-virtual-reality","tag-virtualreality","tag-vr
["GET
