transferred into private care at the Schumacher family home on Lake Geneva<\/a>.<\/p>\nEarlier this year, Schumacher signed his initials on a crash helmet for Jackie Stewart’s Race Against Dementia charity, with the help of his wife Corinna who nurses her husband along with assistance from medical staff at their Lake Geneva home.<\/p>\n
While Corinne offered her help, Stefan L’Hermitte – a journalist for French publication L’Equipe\u00a0 – described it as a “sign of life”.<\/p>\n
“This year he signed a helmet. It was for a charity event. Did his wife hold his hand? We don’t know exactly, but it’s the first time that we have had a positive sign, almost a sign of life,” he told RTL.<\/p>\n
But the journalist conceded the lack of information from Schumacher’s family indicated that while there may have been improvements, the actual day-to-day condition of the former racing driver remained unclear.<\/p>\n
“But the fact is, we still haven’t seen him walk, and apparently he still can’t speak. So we’re still dealing with someone who is still breathing, who might have some small interactions with his family, but we can’t say for sure that he’s doing well,” he said.<\/p>\n
“I would not say he is doing well, but maybe that he is doing a bit better, because fundamentally we don’t know anything.<\/p>\n
“The only real news comes from his family, and that’s always very important, because the news that comes from his family is the good news. The news that comes from outside is probably not worth much.”<\/p>\n
Speculation still lingers over Schumacher’s limitations after he was left with serious brain damage, as his family has maintained strict privacy about his condition since his accident.<\/p>\n
It is understood he still struggles to communicate, according to reports over the years.<\/p>\n
The German racer reportedly had a rare public appearance in October 2024, for daughter Gina-Maria’s wedding in Spain, but no photos were released of the occasion.<\/p>\n
Long-time friend of Schumacher, Jean Todt told L’Equipe in 2023 that he was “simply not the Michael he used to be”.<\/p>\n
“He is different, and is wonderfully guided by his wife and children who protect him,” Todt said.<\/p>\n
“His life is different now, and I have the privilege of sharing moments with him.
