As part of the upgrade, local provider Highland Broadband<\/a> has installed a new 2Gbps full-fibre internet connection, significantly boosting digital infrastructure at the historic club.<\/p>\n The enhanced connectivity is already improving day-to-day operations and helping the club better engage with its growing international membership.<\/p>\n Colin Woodward, managing director of Highland Broadband, part of Highland Broadband Networks Ltd, said the project demonstrated how high-performance digital infrastructure can support internationally connected businesses like Royal Dornoch.<\/p>\n Construction of the 2,100-square-metre building began in December 2023, with Morrison Construction leading the project.<\/p>\n Situated beside the first tee, the new facility will replace the existing clubhouse, which dates back to 1908 and has undergone several refurbishments over the years.<\/p>\n The contemporary, eco-conscious design features solar panels, a battery energy storage system, underfloor heating, and automated lighting\u2014reflecting the club\u2019s commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency.<\/p>\n But the new clubhouse is just one part of a broader masterplan to transform Royal Dornoch into a more accessible, world-class destination for golfers of all levels.<\/p>\n The internationally acclaimed club\u2014already home to the renowned Championship Course and the Struie Course\u2014has previously unveiled plans for a third 18-hole course, a redesign of the Struie layout, <\/a>and two new short courses aimed at improving inclusivity and variety.<\/p>\n \u201cWe want to provide a range of facilities that suit every ability, every age, and every style,\u201d said Neil Hampton, Royal Dornoch\u2019s general manager. \u201cOf course, people come to play one of the greatest links courses in the world\u2014but we want to reinvest in the business and provide more.\u201d<\/p>\n He added that thanks to the ultrafast speeds provided by Highland Broadband, the club was in the perfect position to meet the growing global interest in golf.<\/p>\n The upgrades come at a time of rising demand, with the club forecasting a 30 per cent increase in advance bookings for 2026 compared to the same period last year. The surge reflects Royal Dornoch\u2019s growing global profile, particularly among American members and visitors.<\/p>\n The broadband project was supported by the UK Government\u2019s Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme, part of its wider Project Gigabit initiative to improve high-speed internet access in remote communities.<\/p>\nRoyal Dornoch general manager Neil Hampton is delighted at the speed of the new Internet connection.<\/p>\n
