Jarome Luai’s<\/a> contract is set to be one of the biggest talking points of the NRL<\/a> off-season, with a get-out clause in his current deal.<\/p>\n

The get-out clause in his Wests Tigers<\/a> contract opens the door for talks with rival clubs on November 1, right before he joins Samoa for the Pacific Championships<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Luai reassured the club that they have “nothing to worry about” if they meet the needs of him and his family.<\/p>\n

“As long as they do right by me and my family, they’ll have nothing to worry about,” he told reporters on Monday.<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old flew out to New Zealand with the Samoan team early Monday ahead of the start of the Pacific Championships.<\/p>\n

Luai has until April 30 to activate the clause, which would commit him to three more years with the Wests Tigers in a deal worth an additional $3.5 million.<\/p>\n

Since leaving Penrith this season after securing four straight premierships, the playmaker’s influence has been clear, making a significant impact both on and off the field.<\/p>\n

The central questions now are whether Luai has seen enough potential in the Wests Tigers playing group to re-sign, and, crucially, if the get-out clause will be struck from the new deal entirely.<\/p>\n

Asked whether the Tigers had met his terms to secure his long-term future, Luai delivered both reassurance and a subtle ultimatum.<\/p>\n

“That’s why I’m still here. That’s why I’m looking forward to staying here as well,” he said.<\/p>\n

“If they want to talk, then we’ll talk, but like I said, if they treat me and my family right, they’ve got nothing to worry about.”<\/p>\n

Reflecting on the Wests Tigers’ 2025 campaign, Luai acknowledged that the season could not be described as a success because the team “didn’t play in the finals.”<\/p>\n

“That’s me as a competitor, and the years I’ve been through [at Penrith],” he said.<\/p>\n
