Sydney Roosters star Aliyah Nasio will miss the start of next season after copping the biggest ban in NRLW history for punching Broncos centre Julia Robinson in the Grand Final. <\/p>\n

Code Sports<\/a> reported Nasio was hit with a four match ban for her part in the ugly melee that marred the end of the Broncos\u2019 NRLW Grand Final win over the Roosters. <\/p>\n

The suspension equals the longest ban handed down to an NRLW player, with Eels forward Kennedy Cherrington given the same punishment for a spear tackle in 2023.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday night at the Judiciary Nasio pleaded guilty to striking Robinson, but failed in her bid to have the charge downgraded from grade three. <\/p>\n

Nasio argued she retaliated in fear after being surrounded by seven Broncos players during the scuffle as the siren sounded in the decider. <\/p>\n

Robinson broke her nose and suffered a deviated septum, which will see her undergo surgery, which was detailed in a report from the Broncos club doctor. <\/p>\n

The Broncos winger was punched twice in the face after joining the melee sparked by teammate Gayle Broughton, who grabbed Nasio. <\/p>\n

It was a sour end to the NRLW\u2019s greatest season yet and best ever grand final, with the Broncos coming back to win 22-18 at the death to deby the Roosters a perfect season. <\/p>\n

Nasio declined to give evidence or speak at the Judiciary but provided a letter of apology, as well as a letter from the Roosters\u2019 senior wellbeing manager. <\/p>\n

Nasio claimed she had suffered online abuse as a result of the incident and was remorseful for her actions. <\/p>\n

Considered one of the game\u2019s best rising stars, Nasio will be suspended for at least one game for Tonga and the start of the next NRLW season. <\/p>\n
