Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were welcomed in New York last week to be honoured as the Humanitarians of the Year.<\/p>\n
Many in the audience were delighted to see them, but others were astounded.\u00a0<\/p>\n
How could either of them be called humanitarians when they have rubbished the Royal Family and hugely hurt their feelings?<\/p>\n
Harry has never met Thomas Markle, Meghan\u2019s ailing father, and Meghan hasn\u2019t taken any notice of him for at least seven years.<\/p>\n
He is now asking if Meghan will even come to his funeral.<\/p>\n
Despite holding hands as they arrived at the New York function in dark suits, the couple looked uncomfortable and tetchy.<\/p>\n
Meghan kept trying to catch Harry\u2019s eyes but initially he refused to look at her.<\/p>\n
It spoke louder than what they went on to say on the stage.<\/p>\n
When Meghan was given the award by Project Health Minds she was praised as \u201ca mother, wife, entrepreneur, and philanthropist\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Harry\u2019s mental health advocacy and his memoir Spare, which greatly hurt the Royal Family and revealed private matters, were among his listed accolades.\u00a0<\/p>\n
They had been chosen for their efforts in mental health advocacy and for building a safer digital world for families and young people.<\/p>\n
Harry is very concerned about this issue and highly disapproves of social media.<\/p>\n
Meghan, however, went on Instagram in January to tell her followers about herself and children Archie, six, and Lilibet, four. \u00a0<\/p>\n
Nonetheless, as well as talking about her children on stage, she said: \u201cLike so many parents, we think constantly about how to embrace technology\u2019s benefits, while safeguarding against its dangers.\u201d \u00a0<\/p>\n
Doesn\u2019t she know how canny children are and aware how their parents behave, especially when it\u2019s a \u201cdo as I tell you not as I do\u201d matter?<\/p>\n
It can be very hypocritical.<\/p>\n
Harry\u2019s contribution was a helping of word salad: \u201cThis is a pivotal moment in our collective mission to protect children and support families in a digital age.\u201d<\/p>\n
A few days earlier Meghan went to Paris for the Balenciaga fashion show, the first time she\u2019d been to Europe in three years.<\/p>\n
A source has previously quoted her as saying she would never go to Paris for Harry\u2019s sake.<\/p>\n
Meghan is meticulous about arrangements, so why did she post a video of herself in the back of a car so close to the Pont de l\u2019Alma underpass in the French city where his mother Diana died in a 1997 car accident?<\/p>\n
Prince William made it known he was furious.<\/p>\n
A royal staffer told celebrity reporter Rob Shuter the heir to the throne \u201csaid it was grotesque\u201d.<\/p>\n
Netflix is said to be preparing a documentary about Princess Diana and Meghan for the 30th anniversary of the tragedy.<\/p>\n
Meghan doesn\u2019t miss a chance to be seen and potentially hoped that posting herself close to the tunnel would be an opportunity to take part in the programme. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Harry addressed the New York audience about the toll the Covid-19 pandemic took on mental health and the resulting \u201csurge in anxiety and depression\u201d.<\/p>\n
Meghan watched on from the front row.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
When it was her turn, she talked about how families who had their worlds \u201cabsolutely shattered\u201d via social media while \u201cothers . . . had lost so many of their children to struggles with depression, anxiety, self-harm all inflicted by online harms\u201d.<\/p>\n
Some humanitarian behaviour to her own family and Harry\u2019s would go a long way.<\/p>\n
