Rival clubs are reportedly eyeing unwanted Sydney midfielder Oliver Florent<\/a> as the Swans hurriedly attempt to create salary cap space for trade target Charlie Curnow<\/a> before the 7pm trade period deadline.<\/p>\n

Victorian clubs have swooped in on the availability of Florent, per\u00a0AFL Media’s\u00a0Cal Twomey, after Carlton knocked back the Swans’ initial offer for the two-time Coleman medallist on Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n

“Carlton has knocked back this offer from Sydney for Charlie Curnow<\/a>. On the back of that, other Victorian clubs are considering plays for Ollie Florent, believing that he could be gettable and open to moves elsewhere,” Twomey said on\u00a0AFL Trade Radio.<\/p>\n

“As a part of that offer that Carlton has knocked back, he’s now very clearly up for grabs elsewhere. We’ll see which clubs come to the forefront for Florent.<\/p>\n

“Carlton has said no to this deal and he’s very much on the move – he’s not going back to Sydney by the way things of gone, and his money is part of that issue. He’ll come relatively cheap.”<\/p>\n

According to\u00a07 News’\u00a0Mitch Cleary, there is belief that Florent’s involvement in the Curnow trade package is purely a cap dump to make room for Charlie Curnow<\/a>, rather than him being worth anything of substance in a trade, meaning Sydney could be willing to let him go for little in return.<\/p>\n

Cleary stated that it may “only take a future third-round draft pick” for the Swans to let him go.<\/p>\n

Ollie Florent is now an option for other clubs.

Twomey said this about Florent’s involvement in the initial trade package offer for Curnow earlier on Wednesday:<\/p>\n

“It’s been hard for them in the beginning, particularly for Hayward. I think Florent sees more opportunity in moving but it’s been a hard challenge for the Swans in getting those boys around the idea that moving is best for them.<\/p>\n

“Once your club says you’re not wanted… that makes it automatically easier to let go.”<\/p>\n
