Britney Spears<\/a> is hitting back at her ex-husband Kevin Federline<\/a>\u2019s bombshell new memoir, in which he expressed urgent concern<\/a> for the pop star and fear for their two sons.\n<\/p>\n

A representative for Spears, 43, spoke out in a statement shared exclusively with PEOPLE ahead of the release of his new memoir You Thought You Knew.\n<\/p>\n

\u201cWith news from Kevin\u2019s book breaking, once again he and\u00a0others are profiting off her and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin,\u201d the statement reads. \u201cAll she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James and their well-being during this sensationalism.\u00a0She detailed her journey in her memoir [The Woman in Me].\u201d\n<\/p>\n

Spears and Federline, 47, were married in 2004, and welcomed sons Sean Preston<\/a>, 20, and Jayden James<\/a>, 19, before their divorce was finalized in 2007.\n<\/p>\n

In his new book, Federline wrote that the boys once came to him with concerning allegations regarding their pop star mom<\/a>, and did not want to spend time at her house as teenagers.\n<\/p>\n

\u201cThey would awaken sometimes at night to find her standing silently in the doorway, watching them sleep \u2014 \u2019Oh, you\u2019re awake?\u2019 \u2014 with a knife in her hand,\u201d Federline reportedly wrote in his book, according to The New York Times<\/a>. \u201cThen she\u2019d turn around and pad off without explanation.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

Elsewhere in his book, Federline wrote that he was concerned over Spears\u2019 current \u201csituation,\u201d which he believes is \u201cracing toward something irreversible.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s become impossible to pretend everything\u2019s OK. From where I sit, the clock is ticking, and we\u2019re getting close to the 11th hour,\u201d he reportedly wrote in his memoir, per the Times. \u201cSomething bad is going to happen if things don\u2019t change, and my biggest fear is that our sons will be left holding the pieces.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

Federline did not share specific concerns about Spears, but noted that he believes the \u201cFree Britney\u201d movement, which helped free the star from her 13-year conservatorship, was more harmful than fans believe.\n<\/p>\n

\u201cNow, more than ever, [our children] need your support. I\u2019ve been their buffer for years, but now it\u2019s bigger than me,\u201d he wrote. \u201cIt\u2019s time to sound the alarm.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

Federline\u2019s memoir is set for release on Oct. 21. Spears, meanwhile, release her own memoir, The Woman in Me, in 2023.\n<\/p>\n

In her book, Spears wrote that Federline \u201ctook my world away from me\u201d during their custody battle: \u201cHe knocked the breath out of me.
