The 23-year-old failed to play a game at any level this year as he spent periods completely away from the club.<\/p>\n
The future of Ugle-Hagan was a constant distraction for the Bulldogs, with coach Luke Beveridge having to address the situation almost weekly.<\/p>\n
After his trade to the Suns was processed, Ugle-Hagan released a statement on social media, saying only “good things to come from here”.<\/p>\n
“Though it didn’t end the way I would have liked, I have nothing but gratitude and respect for the Doggies,” he wrote on Instagram.<\/p>\n
“My time at the Kennel has come with its share of lows – there’s no denying that – but the memories and friendships I’ve made will stay with me for life.<\/p>\n
“From a shy 15-year-old who moved to Melbourne, the Doggies took me in and gave me a family and a home.<\/p>\n
“For that, they’ll always hold a special place in my heart.<\/p>\n
“Part of me wishes things had ended differently, but I leave proud to have worn the red, white and blue.<\/p>\n
“Thank you to all my teammates, coaches, and staff who’ve been part of my journey – I’m forever grateful.”<\/p>\n
In confirming the move, the Bulldogs said they now have “no ongoing obligations” to the troubled forward.<\/p>\n
“Jamarra’s affiliation with the Western Bulldogs Football Club has spanned more than eight years, having been a product of our NGA program before becoming the number one selection in the 2020 draft,” footy boss Sam Power said.<\/p>\n
“Over the past 12 months, Jamarra has faced some complex personal challenges and adversity, with a fresh start for both player and Club seen as the best outcome for all parties.<\/p>\n
“During this period, Jamarra’s welfare and wellbeing has remained the Club’s sole priority, as we collectively navigated these challenges with Jamarra.<\/p>\n
“We wish him nothing but the best for his next chapter up on the Gold Coast.”<\/p>\n
Ugle-Hagan kicked 103 goals from 67 games for the Bulldogs after debuting in 2021.<\/p>\n
He last played in the 2024 elimination final.<\/p>\n

But Ugle-Hagan’s upside remains enormous and he could fit into a forward line with Ben King at the Suns.<\/p>\n
Gold Coast general manager player list & talent, Craig Cameron, said the club saw the chance to take a player of Ugle-Hagan’s ability as one the Suns were willing to risk as they look to take the next step from their finals debut this year.<\/p>\n
“As a football club we have a commitment to make sure we explore all options in an effort to give our club the best opportunity for success,” Cameron said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
“We firmly believe that a fit and healthy Jamara can help us as a football club.
