The Western Bulldogs have confirmed they will not pay a cent of No.1 pick Jamarra Ugle-Hagan\u2019s new deal at the Gold Coast Suns after that trade was finalised on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The Dogs have offloaded the troubled Ugle-Hagan \u2013 who was the club\u2019s leading goal scorer just last year \u2013 for pick 74.<\/p>\n

The deal comes after a turbulent 12 months for the former number one draft pick, who didn\u2019t feature in a single AFL game in 2025 off the back of personal issues.<\/p>\n

\u201cOver the past 12 months, Jamarra has faced some complex personal challenges and adversity, with a fresh start for both player and club seen as the best outcome for all parties,\u201d Bulldogs executive general manager Sam Power said.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring this period, Jamarra\u2019s welfare and wellbeing has remained the club\u2019s sole priority, as we collectively navigated these challenges with Jamarra.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe wish him nothing but the best for his next chapter up on the Gold Coast.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Dogs statement then confirmed they were no longer financially tied to the 23-year-old.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday\u2019s trade means the Bulldogs\u2019 contractual relationship with Ugle-Hagan ends and no ongoing obligations exist,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n

The Suns meantime were thrilled to land a player of Ugle-Hagan\u2019s talent \u2013 when he is \u201cfit and healthy\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a football club we have a commitment to make sure we explore all options in an effort to give our club the best opportunity for success,\u201d Suns list boss Craig Cameron said after Ugle-Hagan\u2019s one-year deal was made official.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is a player with high forward craft and IQ that cannot only add, but compliment the exciting group of forwards we already have.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s being reported the forward\u2019s new deal at the Suns<\/a> \u201cwill be heavily incentivised and will also include behavioural clauses\u201d.<\/p>\n

Fox Footy\u2019s Jay Clark had reported that new deal<\/a> could be \u201cpotentially half, maybe even less than half\u201d of the $800,000 contract Ugle-Hagan had at the Dogs.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re not paying big money for Jamarra, this is going to be a \u2018cheap as chips\u2019 deal,\u201d he said on Trading Day.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s 23 Jamarra, he could play 10 (more) years of football. So, whilst this next year will be a much cheaper deal, this gives him a chance to extend his career.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cameron said he was keen to see what a committed Ugle-Hagan could do for the Suns outside the \u201cfootball bubble\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe redemption side of things is a nice story, but the reality is he\u2019s got to come in and play good football to a level,\u201d he said on AFL Trade Radio<\/a> this week.<\/p>\n

Ugle-Hagan has played 67 AFL games, with 103 goals from his time at the Bulldogs, where he was drafted as a prized NGA product.<\/p>\n
