Police believe half a tonne of drugs seized in Western Sydney has links to the same Asian crime gang behind a thwarted hit at a daycare centre last week and the murder of a Bankstown mum.<\/p>\n

Officers on Tuesday afternoon allegedly uncovered 287 kilograms of methamphetamine and 47kg of cocaine inside a Mays Hill home after zeroing in on two men leaving the unit.<\/p>\n

It was one of several raids on “safe houses” across Western Sydney that police say were conducted as part of an investigation into a South-East Asian organised crime network.<\/p>\n

Detectives also uncovered $450,000 in cash, 20kg of precursor chemicals, 81kg of heroin, three pistols and more than 300 bullets during the search warrants.<\/p>\n

The two men were arrested at Mays Hill and charged with commercial drug supply and were refused bail to appear in Bankstown Local Court.<\/p>\n

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Organised Crime Squad Commander Peter Faux said the same syndicate allegedly behind the drugs was “highly likely” linked to a failed hit in broad daylight last week.<\/p>\n

Tactical police swarmed on the alleged kill crew in two stolen cars in peak-hour traffic in Revesby last Wednesday.<\/a><\/p>\n

Police have said they believe the three men were on their way to kill a rival picking up his kids at a nearby daycare centre.<\/p>\n

“We believe highly likely there are some links between certain entities around that incident that occurred last week,” Superintendent Faux said.<\/p>\n

‘Potentially some links’ to murder of Bankstown mum<\/p>\n

Asked whether the same South-East Asian syndicate targeted in Tuesday’s raids was linked to the murder of Thi Kim Tran, Superintendent Faux said there were “potentially some links”.<\/p>\n

Ms Tran was taken from her Bankstown home in April<\/a> by masked men, stripped naked in the street, before being bundled into a car and shot dead.<\/p>\n

Her remains were found in a nearby torched car a short time later.<\/p>\n

Police believe she was killed by a South-East Asian crime gang who targeted Ms Tran in retaliation for suspicions her husband had stolen drugs from the network.<\/p>\n

Asked if Asia-based Sydney drug importer Danny Badger was linked to the same gang behind this week’s drug seizures, Superintendent Faux said police were “looking at” him in their investigation.<\/p>\n

“We have got a number of inquiries in respect to offshore entities and that [Mr Badger] is a part of what we’re looking at absolutely, but we’re not just siloing in on one specific person,” he said.<\/p>\n

Last year the ABC’s Four Corners revealed Mr Badger was believed by police to be one of the biggest importers of drugs into Australia.<\/p>\n
