Ricky Hatton<\/a>\u2019s cause of death has been revealed four weeks after the boxer died at the age of 46.\n<\/p>\n The British former boxing world champion died by suicide, authorities confirmed at a South Manchester coroner\u2019s court hearing on Thursday, Oct. 16, according to the BBC<\/a> and ESPN<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n Hatton’s manager Paul Speak found him \u201cunresponsive\u201d at his home in Hyde, England on Sunday, Sept. 14, the court heard during a 10-minute-long inquest.\n<\/p>\n Hatton was last seen by family members two days earlier, and he seemed \u201cwell,\u201d the BBC reported.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n Speak had arrived at Hatton\u2019s house to take him to the airport in advance of a scheduled boxing match in Dubai.\n<\/p>\n Hatton, also known as \u201cThe Hitman,\u201d won 45 of his 48 fights during his 15 years as a professional boxer from 1997 and 2012. He took a break for three years after losing in a match against Manny Pacquiao<\/a>. He returned to the ring briefly in 2012 before announcing his retirement,\n<\/p>\n Earlier this year, the boxer announced that he was coming out of retirement to compete against Eisa Al Dah on December 2 in Dubai.\n<\/p>\n Ricky Hatton in 2004.<\/p>\n John Gichigi\/Getty\u00a0<\/p>\n Last week, Hatton was remembered by his family and friends at a memorial service at Manchester Cathedral. Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher<\/a> and boxers Tyson and Tommy Fury were among the mourners.\n<\/p>\n The boxer, who was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2024, was the father of three children and had a granddaughter.\n<\/p>\n A full inquest into Hatton\u2019s death will be held on March 20, as the boxing community mourns the loss of the legend.\n<\/p>\n “With deep sadness, the WBA mourns the passing of Ricky ‘The Hitman’ Hatton,” the World Boxing Association<\/a> wrote on social media shortly after Hatton\u2019s death. “A true champion, an indomitable spirit, and a legend of the sport.
