Kevin Parker and company return with first single in two years, a glimpse into the sound on the follow-up to 2020’s The Slow Rush<\/p>\n
\n\tTame Impala<\/a> hint at their \u201cnew era\u201d with the single \u201cEnd of Summer,\u201d the Kevin Parker-fronted outfit\u2019s first new song in two years.<\/p>\n \n\tParker stated that the band\u2019s follow-up to 2020\u2019s The Slow Rush would be \u201ckind of a future primitive rave act,\u201d and the seven-minute \u201cEnd of Summer,\u201d Tame Impala\u2019s first release via their new label Columbia Records, honors that promise with a track that is dancefloor-focused and seasonally timed.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cA new era begins. This is the first thing I want you guys to hear. I give you End Of Summer,\u201d Parker wrote<\/a> of the track \u2014 which was accompanied by an even-longer Julian Klincewicz-directed visual \u2014 on social media. \u201cAs is tradition, go and find your favorite sound system. The video was shot in a place even dustier than my drum sounds. Hope you like it. Off we goooooo.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tParker first debuted<\/a> \u201cEnd of Summer,\u201d fittingly, during a DJ set at a Barcelona dance club back in June. \u201cDo you guys want to hear a new Tame Impala song?\u201d Parker asked before previewing the track to clubgoers.<\/p>\n \t\tTrending Stories<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cEnd of Summer\u201d marks Tame Impala\u2019s first new track since 2023, when Parker dropped songs on the soundtracks for Barbie (\u201cJourney to the Real World\u201d) and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (\u201cWings of Time<\/a>\u201c). Parker remained busy outside the outfit, however, serving as a producer on Dua Lipa\u2019s Radical Optimism<\/a> and collaborating with Justice<\/a>, a pair of dance projects that now seem to foreshadow Tame Impala\u2019s current musical direction.<\/p>\n \n\tIt\u2019s currently unclear whether \u201cEnd of Summer\u201d is a one-off single previewing their new sound or the first track off Tame Impala\u2019s upcoming album; prior to The Slow Rush, Tame Impala released the single \u201cPatience,\u201d which ultimately was not included on the LP.<\/p>\n \t
