By continuing you agree to our Terms<\/a> and Privacy Policy<\/a>.<\/p>\n He described how his memories of Steve are \u201cblurry, very, very distant\u201d, but explained that watching old footage of their time together has helped him reconnect.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s happened to me a handful of times in my life, where I will watch footage that I haven\u2019t seen before of me as a two-year-old kid with him and all of a sudden it\u2019s like this wave, it\u2019s like I just get hit with something and all of a sudden, it\u2019s like boom, I remember that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cThat moment in time just comes back. . .and that is the greatest gift I can receive.\u201d<\/p>\n As the conversation turned to the emotional toll of grief, Robert held back tears.<\/p>\n \u201cIn this life, grief, it\u2019s just, it\u2019s part of the deal, and it\u2019s so bloody hard, it\u2019s so hard. There\u2019s no grief journey that\u2019s easy, and there\u2019s no grief journey that is the same as the other,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cTo celebrate dad, to celebrate the person he is, to continue what he loves is the honour of a lifetime.\u201d<\/p>\n The son of the late Crocodile Hunter also revealed a deeply personal moment he experienced after watching one of Steve\u2019s old interviews, where he discussed building a legacy for his children.<\/p>\n \u201cHe always said, \u2018My whole mission is to create a legacy that my kids can continue,\u2019\u201d Robert said.<\/p>\n \u201cSo, for me watching that, it\u2019s like he gave me this gift. It\u2019s there, it\u2019s material, it\u2019s in writing. I\u2019m watching him looking through the camera and telling me I\u2019m not always going to be here, but I\u2019m creating something that you can continue, and that\u2019s what I want you to do.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s what I get to do now, and it fills me with a lot of pride,\u201d Robert said through tears.<\/p>\n The emotional interview comes just days after Robert\u2019s tearful performance on Dancing with the Stars, where he dedicated a dance to his mother, Terri Irwin.<\/p>\n The routine, set to Phil Collins\u2019 You\u2019ll Be in My Heart, left the audience and judges in tears, with Robert collapsing into Terri\u2019s arms at the end of the performance.<\/p>\n \u201cThe legacy that my mum and dad created is incredible.
