{"id":219386,"date":"2025-10-17T04:39:07","date_gmt":"2025-10-17T04:39:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/219386\/"},"modified":"2025-10-17T04:39:07","modified_gmt":"2025-10-17T04:39:07","slug":"australia-test-batter-nic-maddinson-reveals-testicular-cancer-diagnosis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/219386\/","title":{"rendered":"Australia Test batter Nic Maddinson reveals testicular cancer diagnosis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Former Australia batter Nic Maddinson has revealed he underwent chemotherapy for testicular cancer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The dashing NSW opener has spent most of 2025 battling with his health after having a tumour removed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Maddinson last played for the Blues in March, receiving the cancer diagnosis not long after.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The cancer had already spread to his abdominal lymph nodes and lung.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;To know that I caught it probably as early as I could have, and it still spread into other parts of my body, that was scary,&#8221; Maddinson told Nine newspapers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;I just think it&#8217;s so important if you have anything you&#8217;re worried about, get it checked out.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Nine weeks of chemotherapy ended in July and the 33-year-old was then able to have a one-off hit at Cricket NSW headquarters only two weeks later.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Maddinson played three Tests for Australia in 2016, as well as making six T20 appearances for his country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">He is targeting a return to cricket before the end of this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">AAP<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Former Australia batter Nic Maddinson has revealed he underwent chemotherapy for testicular cancer.
