According to <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/NBATV\/status\/1978984866927509622\" rel=\"nofollow\">Chris Haynes of NBA TV<\/a>, the reigning MVP may or may not play in Friday\u2019s preseason finale against the Timberwolves. But there\u2019s optimism he\u2019ll be ready for Philadelphia\u2019s opener next week.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"321\" data-end=\"544\">Haynes added that the Sixers will be \u201cvery cautious\u201d with Embiid all season and that he\u2019s unlikely to play in back-to-backs in 2025\u201326. The team\u2019s priority is keeping him healthy for the stretch run, not October wins.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"546\" data-end=\"883\">Meanwhile, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/g\/georgpa01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=hoopswire.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-10-17_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Paul George<\/a> is expected to miss the opener against Boston as he c<a href=\"https:\/\/hoopswire.com\/nba-notes-sixers-paul-george-celtics-thunder-roster\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ontinues recovering<\/a> from offseason knee surgery, per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/story\/_\/id\/46618302\/76ers-george-expected-miss-opening-night-sources-say\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Shams Charania of ESPN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"546\" data-end=\"883\">The good news: <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ShamsCharania\/status\/1978921711874543942\" rel=\"nofollow\">Charania reports<\/a> George has made \u201csignificant progress\u201d and isn\u2019t expected to be out long. In a flurry of moves, the team signed and waived <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/l\/langfro01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=hoopswire.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-10-17_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Romeo Langford<\/a>, Adama Bal, and Ibrahima Diallo, per <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/NY_KnicksPR\" rel=\"nofollow\">team announcements<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1085\" data-end=\"1244\">All three received Exhibit 10 contracts, making them eligible for up to $85,300 in bonus money if they spend 60 days with the Westchester Knicks.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1246\" data-end=\"1462\">Langford, the 14th pick in the 2019 draft, last played in the NBA with San Antonio two years ago and spent last season in the G League. He averaged 10.2 points and 3.8 rebounds for the Salt Lake City Stars.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1464\" data-end=\"1780\">Bal, a 6-foot-6 French guard, went undrafted out of Santa Clara after averaging 13.7 points and 3.1 assists over two seasons.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1464\" data-end=\"1780\">Diallo, a 6-foot-10 big man from Senegal, played for three colleges before joining the Austin Spurs of the G League, where he averaged 5.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks.<\/p>\n<p>Suns<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1782\" data-end=\"2014\">Don\u2019t expect the Suns to lock up <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/w\/willima07.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=hoopswire.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-10-17_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Mark Williams<\/a> just yet. As <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Gambo987\/status\/1978921889046368398\" rel=\"nofollow\">John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7<\/a> reports, Phoenix is unlikely to offer the 23-year-old center a rookie-scale extension before Monday\u2019s deadline.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2016\" data-end=\"2263\">Williams, who came over from Charlotte in the offseason, has battled injuries throughout his young career, appearing in just 106 games over three seasons.
