{"id":219958,"date":"2025-10-17T10:09:28","date_gmt":"2025-10-17T10:09:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/219958\/"},"modified":"2025-10-17T10:09:28","modified_gmt":"2025-10-17T10:09:28","slug":"eshowe-boxing-event-to-honour-sa-legend-makhathini","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/219958\/","title":{"rendered":"Eshowe boxing event to honour SA legend Makhathini"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Several boxers in Pietermaritzburg and other parts of KwaZulu-Natal will be in action on October 31 at Eshowe Town Hall.<\/p>\n<p>Local female promoter and former boxer Nomvelo MaGcaba-Shezi of Mvelo Boxing Promotion (MBP), in conjunction with Cebiso Xulu of Tap Tap Makhathini Sports, will be staging the tournament to honour former South African middleweight champion Elijah \u201cTap Tap\u201d Makhathini.<\/p>\n<p>MaGcaba-Shezi on Thursday confirmed that she is one of the promoters, together with Xulu, for the forthcoming event. \u201cYes we are putting the tournament together, but I am not alone because I joined hands with Tap Tap Makhathini Sports which is under Xulu.<\/p>\n<p>ALSO READ | <a href=\"https:\/\/witness.co.za\/news\/2025\/09\/15\/former-boxing-world-champion-hatton-dies-at-46\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Former boxing world champion Hatton dies at 46<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo I will be bringing boxers [male and female] from Pietermaritzburg, KwaXimba and Cato Ridge.
