Darren Lockyer<\/a>‘s hopes of helping the London Broncos<\/a> earn a promotion in to the English Super League have fallen short, with the club overlooked for a spot in the 2026 competition.<\/p>\n

The Queensland legend was part of a consortium that purchased a majority stake in the English team in hopes of seeing the struggling club thrive in the Super League.<\/p>\n

But the group’s dream of developing the team in the top flight have been shut down, with the Broncos set to remain in the second-tier competition for another year.<\/p>\n

The Sydney Morning Herald reports<\/a> the Super League is set to unveil Toulouse and York as the two teams who will joined the expanded competition from 2026.<\/p>\n

An official announcement is expected to be made on Friday evening AEDT.<\/p>\n

Toulouse and York will be joined by the Bradford Bulls in the first grade competition, with the Bulls replacing the Salford Red Devils amid their ongoing financial troubles.<\/p>\n

Former South Sydney Rabbitohs coach Jason Demetriou will still take on the head coaching role at the Broncos, having accepted a three-year pre-commitment deal<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Demetriou will join the club for the upcoming Championship season once his commitments with the Papua New Guinea national team come to an end next month.<\/p>\n

Reagan Campbell-Gillard and Saliva Havili have both inked deals to make the move from the NRL to join the London Broncos.
