Marc-Alexis C\u00f4t\u00e9 has confirmed reports that he\u2019s left Ubisoft as a result of its new, Tencent-back megadev, Vantage Studios<\/a>, which now is in charge of the\u00a0Assassin\u2019s Creed, Far Cry,\u00a0and\u00a0Rainbow Six\u00a0franchises.<\/p>\n \u201cMany of you have expressed surprise that I would choose to leave Assassin\u2019s Creed after so many years, especially given the passion I still hold for it,\u201d C\u00f4t\u00e9 wrote on LinkedIn<\/a>. \u201cThe truth is simple: I did not make that choice.<\/p>\n \u201cUbisoft decided to transfer the leadership of the Assassin\u2019s Creed franchise to someone closer to its new organizational structure,\u201d he continued. \u201cA different position was mentioned, but it did not carry the same scope, mandate, or continuity with the work I had been entrusted with in recent years.\u201d<\/p>\n Adding that he holds \u201cno resentment\u201d towards Ubisoft, he also made it clear he would have preferred to remain at the helm of the\u00a0Assassin\u2019s Creed\u00a0franchise.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2026 owe it to my teams, past and present, to say this plainly: I did not walk away,\u201d he said. \u201cI stayed at my post until Ubisoft asked me to step aside.\u201d<\/p>\n
