Stewards announce Australian MotoGP penalties for Francesco Bagnaia, Brad Binder"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Francesco Bagnaia and Brad Binder have both been hit with a three-place grid penalty for Sunday\u2019s Australian MotoGP.<\/p>\n<p>The pair were punished for separate incidents in which they held up another rider in qualifying.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/racer\/939427\/brad-binder\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Binder <\/a>obstructed a furious Johann Zarco in Qualifying 1, while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/racer\/911999\/francesco-bagnaia\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bagnaia<\/a> was also judged to have been \u2018riding slow online, disturbing another rider\u2019 when he held up good friend Marco Bezzecchi in Qualifying 2.<\/p>\n<p>Both incidents were a &#8216;first offence&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Luca Marini, who was also near the Bagnaia-Bezzecchi incident at the Turn 4 &#8216;Miller Corner&#8217;, has not been punished.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/news\/1084375\/1\/australian-motogp-really-special-fabio-quartararo-pole-unreal-front-row-jack\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bezzecchi had enough time to fight for pole position<\/a>, eventually losing out to Fabio Quartararo by 0.031s.<\/p>\n<p>The penalties will drop Bagnaia from 11th to 14th, and Binder from 13th to 16th on the grid.<\/p>\n<p>The penalties only apply to the grand prix, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/news\/1084373\/1\/official-change-start-time-2025-australian-motogp\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">which will now start one hour later than planned<\/a>, and not to Saturday afternoon\u2019s Sprint race.<\/p>\n<p>Binder was also placed under investigation when Aprilia stand-in Lorenzo Savadori crashed after almost hitting the back of his KTM in Qualifying 1.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>No action has been announced for that
