{"id":221902,"date":"2025-10-18T04:47:08","date_gmt":"2025-10-18T04:47:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/221902\/"},"modified":"2025-10-18T04:47:08","modified_gmt":"2025-10-18T04:47:08","slug":"motogp-publishes-new-sunday-schedule-for-australian-gp-amid-windy-weather","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/221902\/","title":{"rendered":"MotoGP publishes new Sunday schedule for Australian GP amid windy weather"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MotoGP has announced that it is proactively changing the schedule for the Australian Grand Prix on Sunday due to the expected windy weather at Phillip Island.<\/p>\n<p>The grand prix has now been pushed back by an hour to \u201censure the best possible conditions\u201d, with the start times for the Moto2 and Moto3 races also adjusted accordingly.<\/p>\n<p>MotoGP\u2019s headline event of the weekend will now take place at 3pm local time (4am GMT) on Sunday, as opposed to 2pm AEDT (3am GMT) as originally scheduled.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday&#8217;s sprint will go ahead on Saturday as planned.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement issued on Monday, MotoGP stated: \u201cDue to the weather forecast at Phillip Island, the timetable for Sunday at the 2025 Liqui Moly Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix has been adjusted to one hour later.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStart time for MotoGP Warm Up will be 10:40.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe races will take place at: 12:00 Moto3,\u00a013:15 Moto2,\u00a015:00 MotoGP<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis proactive change aims to ensure the best possible conditions for track action and spectators.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Gust of winds reaching speeds of up to 50km\/h are forecast on Sunday, leading to some concerns about the safety of riders in Melbourne.<\/p>\n<p>Some riders, including Ducati\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/driver\/francesco-bagnaia\/109338\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Francesco Bagnaia<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/motogp\/news\/francesco-bagnaia-leads-calls-to-move-australian-motogp-race-to-saturday\/10768186\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> called for the grand prix to be brought forward to Saturday afternoon<\/a>, when the conditions are expected to be much better.<\/p>\n<p>There is a precedent for such a move, with the 2023 Australian GP rescheduled to Saturday due to the threat of heavy rain and high-speed wind.
