A new report claims generative AI is playing a major role in Halo Studios\u2019 upcoming projects, from game logic and world design to enemy behaviors and internal workflows.<\/p>\n

Over the last few years, generative AI has become the centerpiece of nearly every major tech company\u2019s strategy. Microsoft<\/a>, Sony<\/a>, Google<\/a>, and others are racing to figure out how to use it to make work faster, smarter, or cheaper.<\/p>\n

In gaming, studios have been experimenting with this technology as well. Bungie<\/a> built its own internal ChatGPT-style tool called BunGPT<\/a> to help developers write and search code faster. And PlayStation\u2019s new Dark Outlaw Games, led by Call of Duty veteran Jason Blundell, recently listed a job requiring hands-on experience with AI art tools like Midjourney<\/a>, Stable Diffusion, and ChatGPT itself to \u201crefine and polish 2D artwork created by both human artists and generative AI tools.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, a trusted Halo insider says Microsoft\u2019s Halo Studios<\/a> may be taking things even further, reportedly making generative AI a core part of how its next Halo games are being built.<\/p>\n

Generative AI reportedly central to Halo Studios\u2019 development process<\/p>\n

In a new video report<\/a> shared by reliable Halo insider RebsGaming, a source allegedly connected to Microsoft claims that generative AI has been \u201cwoven into every aspect\u201d of Halo<\/a> Studios\u2019 development. According to the insider, generative AI isn\u2019t just being used for \u201cmundane tasks like scheduling things or writing emails,\u201d it\u2019s reportedly involved \u201call the way up to actual game development\u201d at the company.<\/p>\n

\u201cGenerative AI is apparently woven into every aspect of development, such as enemy AI and terrain generation,\u201d the source told RebsGaming. \u201cI think what they\u2019re mostly doing is that, and then touching up the work with human hands. Also, developers are expected to meet similar or quicker deadlines, and the only means to do so is through the use of AI. Whether that\u2019s mundane tasks like scheduling things or writing emails, all the way up to actual game development.\u201d<\/p>\n

RebsGaming said he believes this is plausible, noting Microsoft<\/a>\u2019s huge financial commitment to artificial intelligence: \u201cIn FY 2025, Microsoft is on track to invest approximately $80 billion to build out AI-enabled datacenters to train AI models and deploy AI and cloud-based applications around the world,\u201d said Brad Smith, vice chair and president at Microsoft.<\/p>\n

As with any rumor, it\u2019s best to take all of this with a grain of salt until it\u2019s either confirmed officially or backed up by other credible sources.<\/p>\n

There are also reports about two unannounced Halo games said to be in development. One is a live-service multiplayer project described as \u201clike Fortnite,\u201d<\/a> while the other is a Halo: Combat Evolved remake using a mix of Unreal Engine 5 and a modified Reach engine<\/a>, complete with modern mechanics like sprinting.<\/p>\n
