Every so often, you see a price tag that makes you do a double-take and consider buying something you might not normally pick up. This is one of those times.<\/p>\n

Huffy, is a name many of us grew up with (though their kids bikes<\/a> are WAY cooler now than they were in the 80s when I had one). The company has definitely grown with the times and their newest electric bike, the Montview, and its $500 price tag, may just turn you into a cycling enthusiast.<\/p>\n

In case you’re totally unfamiliar with eBikes, these cylces look like a traditional bike but have a built-in battery. You can use them like a normal bike by pushing some pedal. But the big advantage is if you get tired out, need a boost going uphill, or simply want to zip your way to the destination faster, there’s a throttle on the handlebar you can push to propel you forward, no pedaling required.<\/p>\n

For someone testing the waters of an eBike, or a casual cyclist who could benefit from the ease of a battery-boosted ride every now and then, the Huffy Montview does all the basics well but at an astoundingly low price for the quality. Note – this is NOT an ad – I am genuinely shocked at the price to value ratio of this bike.<\/p>\n

In a world where most e-bikes start at well over a thousand dollars, a $500 price point is almost unheard of. You would think that there are major compromises either to the battery, speed, or quality of the eBike. I’ve had mine for about a month and I still don’t get out this thing can be so good, but so cheap.<\/p>\n

\nRemovable Battery: This is a huge feature for convenience. You can lock up your bike and take the battery inside to charge, keeping it safe and secure.
\nReal Disc Brakes: The bike has disc brakes on both the front and rear wheels. This is a critical safety feature that provides strong, reliable stopping power\u2014something you absolutely want on a heavier e-bike. It’s shocking to see this on a bike at this price.

\nHigh Visibility Display: Your speed and gear are clearly and quickly noted with a glance at the small handlebar-mounted display.
\nTop Speed: The bike can go up to 32 KM\/h, which means it’s still legally classified as a bicycle (at least in Winnipeg Manitoba) so it can still be used on bike paths where you wouldn’t be able to take a higher-speed scooter.<\/p>\n

Setup was relatively easy (you attached the front wheel to the frame). I wish they would’ve included a pedal wrench in the box (I happened to have one from my Peloton, but that’s such a specialized tool I don’t think most people would have). I did need to tinker with the handlebars to align them properly with the front wheel (it was slightly off from the factory, though it’s a relatively simple adjustment).<\/p>\n

The Bottom Line Is the Huffy Montview eBike worth it?<\/p>\n

\n The throttle is smooth and if you open up to high year you can go 32km\/h.\n <\/p>\n

Let’s be clear: a $500 e-bike is an astonishing deal. The Huffy Montview offers a feature set\u2014especially the disc brakes and removable battery\u2014that you’d typically expect to find on bikes costing two or even three times as much.<\/p>\n

The cable management is a little sloppy on the front of the bike near the light, but for the price, I just feel there’s nothing that justifies complaining about.<\/p>\n
