This is one of those times.

Huffy, is a name many of us grew up with (though their kids bikes are WAY cooler now than they were in the 80s when I had one). The company has definitely grown with the times and their newest electric bike, the Montview, and its $500 price tag, may just turn you into a cycling enthusiast.

      Huffy Montview 700c

In case you’re totally unfamiliar with eBikes, these cylces look like a traditional bike but have a built-in battery. You can use them like a normal bike by pushing some pedal. But the big advantage is if you get tired out, need a boost going uphill, or simply want to zip your way to the destination faster, there’s a throttle on the handlebar you can push to propel you forward, no pedaling required.

For someone testing the waters of an eBike, or a casual cyclist who could benefit from the ease of a battery-boosted ride every now and then, the Huffy Montview does all the basics well but at an astoundingly low price for the quality. Note – this is NOT an ad – I am genuinely shocked at the price to value ratio of this bike.

In a world where most e-bikes start at well over a thousand dollars, a $500 price point is almost unheard of. You would think that there are major compromises either to the battery, speed, or quality of the eBike. I’ve had mine for about a month and I still don’t get out this thing can be so good, but so cheap.

              Source: geekingout.ca
The removeable battery has a visual indicator so you can see how much charge you have before a ride.

After a horrible long-distance cycling experience more than a decade ago, I swore off biking as hobby. The Montview has made me enjoy cycling again.

Who is the Huffy Montview for?

The Huffy Montview is a comfort-first e-bike designed for cruising around the neighbourhood, running errands, or making your daily commute a whole lot easier. It’s not a high-performance machine, but it’s not trying to be.

              Source: geekingout.ca
The bike’s display is simple and easy to read.

It’s all about accessibility and value, for the casual rider who occasionally wants to enjoy the great outdoors and will feel more confident doing that with a little help courtesy of a built-in motor.

Main Features of the Huffy Montview

              Source: geekingout.ca

Electric Pedal Assist: A 36-volt motor in the rear wheel gives you a gentle push as you pedal. It’s perfect for flattening hills and getting you up to speed without breaking a sweat.
Removable Battery: This is a huge feature for convenience. You can lock up your bike and take the battery inside to charge, keeping it safe and secure.
Real Disc Brakes: The bike has disc brakes on both the front and rear wheels. This is a critical safety feature that provides strong, reliable stopping power—something you absolutely want on a heavier e-bike. It’s shocking to see this on a bike at this price.
7-Speed Shimano Gears: Even with a motor, having gears lets you find the perfect pedaling cadence for your comfort level.

              Source: geekingout.ca
The bike’s seat is reasonably comfortable.

Comfort is King: The “Perfect Fit Frame” puts you in a relaxed, upright riding position. Plus, a suspension fork on the front wheel helps soak up bumps for a smoother ride.
High Visibility Display: Your speed and gear are clearly and quickly noted with a glance at the small handlebar-mounted display.
Top Speed: The bike can go up to 32 KM/h, which means it’s still legally classified as a bicycle (at least in Winnipeg Manitoba) so it can still be used on bike paths where you wouldn’t be able to take a higher-speed scooter.

Need a dashcam for your bike? Try this one.

Practical Extras Included

              Source: geekingout.ca
The bike has a light powered by the battery.

While you could certainly customize the bike with additional accessories once you learn more about your riding style, the Huffy Montview comes equipped with the essentials right out of the box:

Front-mounted electric headlamp.
A quality kickstand.
Easy-to-follow instructions

              Source: geekingout.ca
The battery is easy to remove for more convenient charging.

Setup was relatively easy (you attached the front wheel to the frame). I wish they would’ve included a pedal wrench in the box (I happened to have one from my Peloton, but that’s such a specialized tool I don’t think most people would have). I did need to tinker with the handlebars to align them properly with the front wheel (it was slightly off from the factory, though it’s a relatively simple adjustment).

The Bottom Line Is the Huffy Montview eBike worth it?

              Source: geekingout.ca
The throttle is smooth and if you open up to high year you can go 32km/h.

Let’s be clear: a $500 e-bike is an astonishing deal. The Huffy Montview offers a feature set—especially the disc brakes and removable battery—that you’d typically expect to find on bikes costing two or even three times as much.

The cable management is a little sloppy on the front of the bike near the light, but for the price, I just feel there’s nothing that justifies complaining about.

              Source: geekingout.ca
The Huffy Montview 700c provides excellent value for an entry-level ebike.

If you have been curious about e-bikes but were scared off by the high prices, this is your chance to see if this hobby is for you.

For commuting, casual rides, or just getting around town with less effort, the Huffy Montview offers almost unbelievable value. It might just be the best bargain in the entire e-bike market right now.

          Smartest Smartwatch

Top 3 Reasons To Choose The Apple Watch Ultra 2 in 2025

The Series 10 and Ultra 2 are both fine smartwatches from Apple.
