Limp Bizkit bassist Sam Rivers has passed away at the age of 48 on October 18 and received an emotional tribute from the iconic band.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The metal group announced Rivers’ death in a statement on Instagram on Saturday and revealed the late musician passed earlier in the day\u00a0\u2014 although a cause of death has yet to be revealed.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘In Loving Memory of Our Brother, Sam Rivers,’ the message read. ‘Today we lost our brother. Our bandmate. Our heartbeat.’\u00a0<\/p>\n

Rivers had been one of the original founding members of Limp Bizkit\u00a0\u2014 which was formed back in 1994.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘Sam Rivers wasn’t just our bass player \u2014 he was pure magic. The pulse beneath every song, the calm in the chaos, the soul in the sound,’ the band also shared.<\/p>\n

‘From the first note we ever played together, Sam brought a light and a rhythm that could never be replaced. His talent was effortless, his presence unforgettable, his heart enormous.’\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The group continued, ‘We shared so many moments \u2014 wild ones, quiet ones, beautiful ones \u2014 and every one of them meant more because Sam was there.’\u00a0<\/p>\n

They called Rivers ‘a once-in-a-lifetime kind of human’ as well as ‘a\u00a0true legend of legends.’<\/p>\n

‘And his spirit will live forever in every groove, every stage, every memory. We love you, Sam.’<\/p>\n

The statement concluded with, ‘We’ll carry you with us, always. Rest easy, brother. Your music never ends. \u2014 Fred, Wes, John & DJ Lethal \u2764\ufe0f.’<\/p>\n

Rivers first met the lead vocalist of the band Fred Durst in the 90s while working at Chick-fil-A.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The duo would then form the band Limp Bizkit in 1994 alongside drummer John Otto. Two years later, guitarist Wes Borland and turntablist DJ Lethal also joined the group.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Their debut album Three Dollar Bill, Y’all was released in 1997 and included singles such as Counterfeit.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The band found further success and recognition with its second album Significant Other (1999) which was followed by Chocolate Starfish And The Hot Dog Flavored Water (2000).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
