In the afternoon window, No. 9 Georgia overcame a stiff challenge from No. 5 Ole Miss in an SEC shootout<\/a>. Then Arizona State pulled off a surprise<\/a>, holding off a late charge by No. 7 Texas Tech to win their Big 12 clash.<\/p>\n

There was a flurry of action in the night games as well. No. 6 Alabama took care of business in their rivalry game with No. 11 Tennessee<\/a> on the third Saturday in October as Ty Simpson put forward another strong showing. No. 13 Notre Dame also handled a tough home game<\/a> in dispatching No. 20 USC. In the last matchup featuring ranked teams, No. 15 BYU beat No. 23 Utah in the “Holy War.<\/a>“<\/p>\n
