It was a victory to remember for many reasons when the Dogs recorded a dominant 66-point win over the Suns in Round 10.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The second-highest score in team history, the first-ever time the Dogs have kept an opposition goalless and the first win interstate since Tam Hyett took the reigns as Head Coach.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Here’s what Hyett had to say following the win.\u00a0<\/p>\n
On the team\u2019s first insterstate win under Hyett:\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThe two years I\u2019ve been involved, we haven\u2019t won on the road \u2013 interstate.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s really exciting. It\u2019s always a good challenge to get together and get on the road, and to come away with the win was really nice.\u201d<\/p>\n
On the third-quarter dominance:<\/p>\n
\u201cThe first quarter, the Suns kind of led us to the ball. We were probably a little bit disappointed with that in the first quarter.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe reset after quarter-time. The third quarter we started to click and capitalise on our moments. That was really good.\u201d<\/p>\n
On Emma McDonald:<\/p>\n
\u201cShe works really hard.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor a first-year player, she\u2019s like a sponge.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe\u2019s had some really good education through \u2018Killer\u2019, our forwards coach, and those other players around her assist as well.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe\u2019s just a raw talent. It\u2019s really exciting to see her putting some consistency together with her games. She\u2019s having a good season.\u201d<\/p>\n
On the team\u2019s energy and ability to execute the game plan:<\/p>\n
\u201cI thought our ball movement was good. On the back of last year, that was the real priority for us \u2013 to get our ball movement right.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat takes time. I think I spoke about that last week. To be able to add layers to your game and get a little bit more run and carry, and create a few more handball receives \u2013 that allows us then to get deeper entries.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe feel like we\u2019re a threat forward one-on-one.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur ability to move the ball with speed assists that.\u201d<\/p>\n
On the approach to this game:<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve got a four-round focus, so we started last week and that was almost our qualifying final. Today was our elimination final.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe think, if we can continue to get better and play the style of game and our method that we\u2019ve been working on, we\u2019ll win games.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s all we\u2019re asking \u2013 to turn up, play our style, and that gives us our best opportunity to win games.<\/p>\n
\u201cThen, things take care of themselves.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were really deliberate to frame this as our final series \u2013 the last four rounds.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it\u2019s a good way to put a little bit more pressure on the players, and hopefully that holds them in good stead down the track.\u201d<\/p>\n
