UFC Vancouver<\/a> went down last night (Sat., Oct. 18, 2025) inside Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, which saw Brendan Allen pull off a big upset over Reinier de Ridder, securing a fourth round technical knockout (TKO) due to a corner stoppage (highlights here<\/a>). In the co-main event, Mike Malott defeated Kevin Holland via unanimous decision (recap here<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Biggest Winner: Brendan Allen<\/p>\n

Allen made the most of his opportunity after filling in for an injured Anthony Hernandez <\/a>to face de Ridder, the surging 185-pound contender who was seemingly one more win away form securing a shot at the division strap. Allen was coming off a win over Marvin Vettori after back-to-back defeats, so he didn\u2019t have much to lose and everything to gain. And he did just that, pulling off a big upset over \u201cRDR\u201d by forcing his foe\u2019s corner to stop the fight<\/a> prior to the fifth round as a result of his relentless pressure and grappling. With the victory, Allen could jump into the Top 5 and inch closer to the championship picture. And it\u2019s well deserving since he wasn\u2019t afraid to step up to the plate and get right in the face of a dangerous opponent whom he had little time to prepare for. Take big risks, win big prizes and Allen is on his way back up.<\/p>\n

Malott should expect an invite to the Top 15 following his big win over Kevin Holland in what was a pretty competitive and somewhat odd fight<\/a> due to low blows and questionable officiating. That said, overall Malott was the better fighter who put on a more impressive performance against the No. 15-ranked combatant at 170 pounds. Malott has now won three straight fights and is 6-1 overall under the UFC banner, making the Canadian-born fighter a surging contender to keep an eye on.<\/p>\n

Biggest Loser: Reinier de Ridder<\/p>\n

To cap off a terrible week, de Ridder suffered his first loss inside the Octagon at the hands of Allen, ending his five-fight win streak and hitting pause on his championship fight dreams. It all started with a brutal weight cut he had to endure earlier in the week due to the fact that he came into fight week over 30 pounds heavy<\/a>, which obviously had an effect on his performance and explains why he was exhausted in the later rounds. While he did make weight, the fact that he came in so heavy simply wasn\u2019t a good look, and it showed inside the cage. Now, he will have to regroup and start from scratch because he will take a tumble in the rankings<\/a>, and a title fight will be out of reach for a while.<\/p>\n
