Thanasi Kokkinakis<\/a> has confirmed there’s a plan for him and Nick Kyrgios<\/a> to return to the doubles scene after a sad conclusion at the last Australian Open, simply repeating the intention to “run it back”. <\/p>\n

As a combination, the Special Ks have been entertaining for onlookers, which peaked when they won the 2022 Australian Open men’s doubles title.<\/p>\n

Both men made their return in January 2025, but a pectoral injury<\/a> for Kokkinakis meant they retired in their first match<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But they could both be back early next year.<\/p>\n

“Unfortunately when we played last year we were nowhere near 100 per cent so we definitely have to run it back,” Kokkinakis told media at the Caulfield Cup.<\/p>\n

“We haven’t played properly since we won it in 2022, so we’d love to try and run it back.<\/p>\n

“Hopefully he’s in good nick and I’m in good nick and we can do it.”<\/p>\n

That victory in 2022 made them the first all-Australian men’s doubles champions at the event since Todd Woodbridge and Mark Woodforde in 1997. <\/p>\n

In 2022, Kokkinakis and Kyrgios teamed up at multiple tournaments, mainly in the USA. The best result was a final victory in the Atlanta Open.<\/p>\n

They also reached the round of 16 at the US Open but failed to progress.<\/p>\n
