He dragged de Ridder into deep waters, exhausting him to the point where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mmamania.com\/ufc-results\/396850\/ufc-vancouver-results-brendan-allen-forces-bloody-reinier-de-ridder-to-quit-on-the-stool\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">he quit on the stool<\/a> between the fourth and fifth round.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">According to Allen <a href=\"https:\/\/mmajunkie.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/ufc\/2025\/10\/19\/ufc-vancouver-brendan-allen-vs-reinier-de-ridder-title-shot\/86783697007\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">(via MMA Junkie),<\/a> this isn\u2019t the first time de Ridder has cracked.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">\u201cYou can see it when he fought that Russian guy the second time in ONE,\u201d Allen said, referring to Anatoly Malykhin. \u201cHe did the same thing. I think in the third or fourth round, he did the same thing. So yeah, I knew I could get it done.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">\u201cTwenty-five minutes is a very, very long time to take punishment. I didn\u2019t think he\u2019d be able to do it. He took a round longer than I thought, but I also didn\u2019t start off too hot in the first, so three rounds of dominance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">De Ridder was originally supposed to face Anthony Hernandez in a fight the UFC said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mmamania.com\/ufc-fight-announcements\/383813\/bye-bye-abu-dhabi-dana-white-crushes-khamzats-big-plans-with-de-ridder-vs-hernandez-led-ufc-vancouver-event\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">could earn the winner<\/a> a fight against 185 pound champion Khamzat Chimaev. That talk dried up when \u201cFluffy\u201d withdrew and Allen stepped in, but Allen made his case for earning the title shot despite being 2-2 over his last four with decision losses to Hernandez and Imavov.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">\u201cIf anyone wants to sit down and break down the tape and actually knows the Unified Rules of MMA \u2026 you can argue, for both of those, that I won both of those fights,\u201d Allen said. \u201cBut it is what it is. It\u2019s a loss on my record. I learned from it. Even though I think it was very close, I arguably won them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">\u201cMaybe I\u2019m delusional. Who knows? I don\u2019t really care. It\u2019s in the past. We\u2019re growing. We\u2019re learning. As I keep saying, I\u2019m still the youngest guy in the top 15 and now the top 5. I probably have the most fights out of all of them. This is my 18th fight in six years. I\u2019d say I\u2019m pretty active. I haven\u2019t fought slouches. I\u2019ve fought all top guys. If you look at everyone I\u2019ve fought in the moment I\u2019ve fought them, they were all top dogs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">\u201cI don\u2019t need to talk too much to boast myself up,\u201d he said. \u201cThat\u2019s not who I am. I let my record and my actions speak for themselves. I just come here, I get the job done, I give my best, I put on the best performance I can for the fans, for everyone, for the promotion. I step up and I\u2019m trying to be the face.
