An elderly man has allegedly been beaten over days in his own home after a visitor was accused of refusing to let him leave.<\/p>\n

The alleged attacker, a 28-year-old man, had arranged to stay at the 78-year-old man\u2019s Belconnen home in Canberra<\/a> earlier this month.<\/p>\n

But after some time in the home, he is accused of forcibly confining his host for three days and subjecting him to an onslaught of violence.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe repeatedly assaulted the older man, including kicking and choking him,\u201d ACT Policing said.<\/p>\n

The 78-year-old was allegedly trapped between Wednesday and Friday.<\/p>\n

On Friday, the 28-year-old was arrested for unrelated offences and taken to the ACT Watch House.<\/p>\n

It was not until 8pm that night that the elderly resident managed to escape his home, seek medical attention for his injuries, and report the alleged attack.<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old man has since been charged with three counts of intentionally inflict grievous bodily harm, forcible confinement and dealing with the proceeds of crime.<\/p>\n

He faced the ACT Magistrates Court on Saturday and remains before the courts.<\/p>\n
