Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood and Shane Lowry are headlining the inaugural DP World India Championship this weekend.<\/p>\n

The DP World Tour<\/a> has headed to New Delhi for a special new tournament as the Race to Dubai continues to heat up.<\/p>\n

Delhi Golf Club is hosting some of the world\u2019s best golfers, with only two \u2018Back 9\u2019 events left until the DP World Tour Play-Offs get underway.<\/p>\n

Fleetwood and Lowry have enjoyed fine weeks in India and are both in contention for victory on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Daniel Hillier, Keita Nakajima, Joost Luiten and Viktor Hovland are also in the mix.<\/p>\n

India Championship: Date and how to follow<\/p>\n

This event is taking place from Thursday, October 16 to Sunday, October 19.<\/p>\n

It is being held at Delhi Golf Club in New Delhi, India.\u00a0The course is a par 72 and a maximum length of 6,912 yards. <\/p>\n

While it is a short course by modern professional standards, it is heavily tree-lined and extremely tight.<\/p>\n

Due to the narrow nature of the layout, McIlroy has not had a driver in his bag this week<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Play will get going at 3:14am UK time on Sunday while the leaders will head out at 8:50am.<\/p>\n

The event will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Golf throughout the week, with their coverage starting from 7:30am.<\/p>\n

Sharma Shubhankar and Anirban Lahiri are among the 26 Indian players in the field.<\/p>\n

PGA Tour<\/a> stars Ben Griffin, Brian Harman and Michael Kim will also tee it up.<\/p>\n

The weather is set to be hot and sunny all week with temperatures exceeding 32C each day.<\/p>\n

Fleetwood benefited from a lucky break off a tree lining Delhi Golf Club to finish with a birdie and sit two off the lead heading into the final day.<\/p>\n

The Ryder Cup winner had just carded his first bogey in 37 holes after three-putting the short 17th from 35 feet when he pulled his approach to the par-five last.<\/p>\n

His ball looked in danger of being lost in the thick vegetation only for it to clatter a branch deep in the trees and rebound close to the front fringe from where he almost holed a chip for eagle.<\/p>\n

A 69 and 15-under total left him in touching distance of Japan’s Keita Nakajima, who had a brilliant bogey-free seven-under 65, but Fleetwood was frustrated by his form on the greens.<\/p>\n

“It was a shame because my pace was pretty rubbish all day but I felt I’d held out so well,” said the Southport golfer, who is looking for his first win on the DP World Tour since January 2024, having made his PGA Tour breakthrough in August’s Tour Championship.<\/p>\n

“I’m not going to be negative about it, I know I’ve got to do a bit of work on it but I’ve done so much good so far.<\/p>\n

“Two behind is close enough where I’m still in control of it a little bit.”<\/p>\n

Fleetwood’s Ryder Cup team-mate Lowry turned in three under but played the back nine in level par, with a birdie at the last for a second successive 69 leaving him 14 under and three back in third.<\/p>\n

“I got very frustrated on the back nine today.
