The life of a professional tennis player is often under scrutiny, especially when you\u2019re Taylor Fritz and choose to play more often than not. <\/p>\n

Fritz has conceded he might be more selective in the future<\/a> with his schedule coming under scrutiny as he waits to become a Grand Slam champion for the first time. <\/p>\n

Fritz wasn\u2019t overly happy in Shanghai<\/a> as he lost in his very first match against the big-serving French player Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard<\/a>. <\/p>\n

At the Japan Open, Fritz was praised by Carlos Alcaraz<\/a> after losing to the Spaniard in the final, but it did prove to be a positive tournament for the player. <\/p>\n

Now, after Jack Draper<\/a> lifted the lid on what life is like on the tour, Fritz backed him up and came in for some stick from one tennis fan, with the American shooting him down with aplomb. <\/p>\n

After Draper has posted about the rigors of playing tennis on the ATP Tour, Fritz backed him up by saying: \u201cFacts, also seeing more injuries and burnout now than ever before because balls, courts, conditions have slowed down a lot making the weekly grind even more physically demanding and tough on the body.\u201d<\/p>\n

One man decided to give complete disgust towards Fritz, making a host of personal criticisms, essentially implying that he\u2019s paid very handsomely and he needed to do better than moan about the situation. <\/p>\n

Fritz also came under the spotlight because he managed to make the Six Kings Slam, which rewards players financially for simply turning up. <\/p>\n

He said: \u201cI\u2019m not magically fine I got to go home and rest for a week because I lost early in Shanghai?!? A week of rest has been unheard of me for me this year. <\/p>\n

\u201cOf course, I am in a better spot now to play. Also reply to #3 the schedule is longer than it used to be and the conditions slowing has made the game more physical, anyone who has been around will tell you that, but ya you get me on #1, if you wanna discredit my entire career because I had parents that played tennis and had a very fortunate upbringing then go for it.\u201d<\/p>\n

ATP owes it to players to alter the schedule<\/p>\n

A real problem was created in Shanghai with the number of players either withdrawing from events or retiring injured during matches. <\/p>\n

Jannik Sinner was forced to concede defeat against Tallon Griekspoo<\/a>r and it meant that the fans would be robbed of seeing all of the very best players competing at the best of their ability. <\/p>\n

Fritz, in fairness, is one player who simply plays every event going, and for that, he does deserve some credit, with the player pulling out of events as a rarity. <\/p>\n

However, with Sinner and Alcaraz often managing their schedule a little bit more stringently, perhaps Fritz might have to do the same if he\u2019s to get over the line and finally win a major. <\/p>\n

Fritz actually deserves praise for defending Draper regarding the tour in its current state and now, the ATP have to act to accommodate the players trying their best to manage a number of tournaments. <\/p>\n
