{"id":226747,"date":"2025-10-20T05:45:06","date_gmt":"2025-10-20T05:45:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/226747\/"},"modified":"2025-10-20T05:45:06","modified_gmt":"2025-10-20T05:45:06","slug":"brad-binder-clear-on-what-ktm-are-missing-after-australian-motogp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/226747\/","title":{"rendered":"Brad Binder \u201cclear\u201d on what KTM are missing after Australian MotoGP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/racer\/939427\/brad-binder\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brad Binder\u2019s<\/a> impressive progress from 16th on the Australian <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">MotoGP<\/a> grid stalled when &#8211; like the other KTM riders &#8211; he began struggling with tyre wear.<\/p>\n<p>Like frontrunning team-mate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/racer\/1040772\/pedro-acosta\" data-entity-type=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Pedro Acosta<\/a>, Binder was able to set competitive lap times until around ten laps to go, then experienced a further big drop in the closing stages.<\/p>\n<p>Acosta faded from second to fifth place, while Binder remained in eighth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHonestly, we are not happy about the race today and we have to understand why our performance suffered in the second half,\u201d said KTM team manager Aki Ajo. \u201cTyre life was a bit worse than we expected.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Binder stressed that he had been nursing the medium rear tyre throughout.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe main thing was to protect the rear tyre because we know at Phillip Island you can really do yourself damage if you toast the thing with two laps to go, you can drop like hell,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI got to the end in decent shape, but I had a drop with three laps to go. Anyway, it is what it is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The South African added: \u201cIt\u2019s weird because the way I was riding, I don\u2019t feel like we should have used the rubber the way we did.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, it\u2019s clear to me we are missing a lot of edge grip on the rear.
