{"id":226760,"date":"2025-10-20T05:52:09","date_gmt":"2025-10-20T05:52:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/226760\/"},"modified":"2025-10-20T05:52:09","modified_gmt":"2025-10-20T05:52:09","slug":"nick-kyrgios-says-if-he-thinks-either-alexander-zverev-or-daniil-medvedev-can-win-a-grand-slam-in-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/226760\/","title":{"rendered":"Nick Kyrgios says if he thinks either Alexander Zverev or Daniil Medvedev can win a Grand Slam in 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>   <a class=\"fw\" href=\"https:\/\/profile.google.com\/cp\/Cg0vZy8xMXlnMTNoeXE4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"28\" height=\"28\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/wp-content\/themes\/grv-media\/img\/google-discover.svg\" alt=\"\"\/> Follow us on Google Discover <\/a>  <\/p>\n<p>It was another busy week on the ATP Tour, with Daniil Medvedev, Casper Ruud and Felix Auger-Aliassime all emerging victorious.<\/p>\n<p>Arguably stealing the spotlight was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/daniil-medvedev\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Medvedev<\/a>, who ended his 882-day title drought by winning the Almaty Open.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/daniil-medvedev-immediately-reacts-to-winning-his-first-title-since-2023-at-the-almaty-open\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Medvedev shared his delight<\/a> after triumphing at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/atp\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ATP<\/a> 250 tournament, where he beat Corentin Moutet in the final.<\/p>\n<p>The Russian second seed, who won 7-5, 4-6, 6-3, has now remarkably claimed 21 titles in 21 different cities.<\/p>\n<p>And just before his fantastic run in Kazakhstan, he was the subject of a \u2018hot take\u2019 from his fellow professional <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/nick-kyrgios\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nick Kyrgios<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"706\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GettyImages-1409371262-1024x706.jpg\" alt=\"Day Fourteen: The Championships - Wimbledon 2022\" class=\"wp-image-91883\" \/>Photo by Julian Finney\/Getty ImagesNick Kyrgios predicts if Alexander Zverev or Daniil Medvedev can win a Grand Slam in 2026<\/p>\n<p>Kyrgios coached Richard Gasquet at the UTS Hong Kong after withdrawing from the event, where he was tasked with providing three hot takes for the 2026 season.<\/p>\n<p>And arguably the boldest call featured both Medvedev and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/alexander-zverev\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alexander Zverev<\/a> and their Grand Slam chances next year.<\/p>\n<p>READ MORE: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/throwbacks\/what-nick-kyrgios-said-to-coco-gauff-after-they-practiced-together-when-she-was-just-15\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">What Nick Kyrgios said to Coco Gauff after they practiced together when she was just 15<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Kyrgios said: \u201cZverev or Medvedev is going to win a Grand Slam in 2026. I think that those two guys are going to be hungry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously [Jannik] Sinner and [Carlos] Alcaraz are the juggernauts and the titans. But I think that Medvedev and Zverev are sick of them winning all the Grand Slams. So maybe one of those two.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Medvedev is a six-time Grand Slam finalist, but claimed his only title at the 2021 US Open against Novak Djokovic.<\/p>\n<p>His struggles at major level were evident this season, with the veteran suffering three successive first round exits after his second round loss at the Australian Open.<\/p>\n<p>Zverev meanwhile is winless from all three of his Grand Slam finals, one of which arrived against Sinner at this year\u2019s Australian Open.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"665\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GettyImages-2196108009-1024x665.jpg\" alt=\"Winner Jannik Sinner of Italy and runner-up Alexander Zverev of Germany shows his emotion as they wait for the Men's Singles trophy presentation following the Men's Singles final during day 15 of the 2025 Australian Open at Melbourne Park.\" class=\"wp-image-133269\" \/>Photo by Clive Brunskill\/Getty ImagesNick Kyrgios makes big predictions about Joao Fonseca and Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard<\/p>\n<p>Kyrgios featured two other, less experienced ATP players in his other two bold predictions for the new season.<\/p>\n<p>One involved Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, with the Australian noting: \u201cI think that Mpetshi Perricard will break the top 10.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s one of my takes.
