WA\u2019s The Southern River Band has been announced as AC\/DC\u2019s support act for the heavy metal legends\u2019 Perth<\/a> appearances in December at Optus Stadium.<\/p>\n

In what promises to be two electrifying nights of entertainment across December 4 and 8, the hometown favourites will throw their unique rock flavour into a mix that already boasts high voltage star power.<\/p>\n

Each major city along AC\/DC\u2019s Power Up Aussie tour will see one of its own up in lights, beginning with The Casanovas in Melbourne on November 12.<\/p>\n

While pub rock punks and global exports Amyl & The Sniffers will join the rock icons at each location, including stops in Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane.<\/p>\n

Promoter Christo Van Egmond, of TEG Van Egmond, suggested the rock smorgasbord served to fans in each State would not leave them disappointed.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese incredible homegrown artists represent the best of Australian rock today,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith Amyl & The Sniffers already confirmed, fans are in for an unmissable full night of rock and roll from start to finish.\u201d<\/p>\n

AC\/DC\u2019s forthcoming tour marks the rock \u2018n\u2019 roll hall of famers first national campaign since 2015 and will see the return of Angus Young on lead guitar, vocalist Brian Johnson, rhythm guitarist Stevie Young, drummer Matt Laug and bass player Chris Chaney.<\/p>\n

Indicative of their enduring adoration was the buzz around the tour\u2019s June 26 ticket release, which saw Ticketek break its record for the largest single-day ticket on-sale.<\/p>\n

Riding a wave of momentum into summer, The Southern River band struggled to articulate the notion of achieving their \u201cdreams\u201d on sharing the tour news to fans on Monday morning.<\/p>\n

\u201cG\u2019day team \u2014 we\u2019ve got no words,\u201d they wrote to social media.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2019Dreams do come true\u2019 is gonna have to suffice.\u201d<\/p>\n

The four-piece group features lead vocalist Callum Kramer, guitarists and vocalists Dan Carroll and Tyler Michie, and drummer Pat Smith.<\/p>\n

Currently on a national jaunt for their Easier Said Than Done tour \u2014 echoing their Friday album release \u2014 the band will travel to the UK in February to launch a series of European dates.<\/p>\n

And while not quite household names yet, they made headlines in 2023 after openly rejecting the idea of entering a competition to share a stage with Coldplay in Perth during the Brits\u2019 epic Music of the Spheres World Tour Australian launch.<\/p>\n

In a tongue-in-cheek video to fans, Kramer swatted any interest in a Coldplay collaboration while inadvertently foreshadowing the group\u2019s latest milestone.<\/p>\n

\u201cReally appreciate you putting us forward but um\u2026 pretty f****** busy at the minute ay. Don\u2019t know if we\u2019re going to be able to do it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf it was like ACDC or like the Foo Fighters or something like that, yep f****** oath, probably be able to make that work.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut at the minute for ah\u2026 Coldplay, ah nah we\u2019re good\u2026 yeah we\u2019re good thanks.\u201d<\/p>\n

He later clarified it was the competition itself that the band had snubbed, and not the opportunity to tour with Coldplay.<\/p>\n

Kramer told KIIS radio\u2019s Will & Woody, \u201cWe know that we don\u2019t really fare too well in those sorts of competitions for whatever reason when it gets to music industry experts.<\/p>\n
