What Did Hailey Bieber Say About Selena Gomez? <\/p>\n

In a feature with The Wall Street Journal<\/a>, published on October 14, Bieber was asked about Rhode launching into Sephora, where the brand would sit alongside competitors.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u201cI think there is space for everybody. I don\u2019t feel competitive with people that I\u2019m not inspired by,\u201d Bieber answered.<\/p>\n

It was that simple statement that some interpreted as a dig at Selena. However, later in the interview the WSJ pressed further asking if the Rhode founder was nervous of comparisons being drawn to Selena.<\/p>\n

The interviewer noted that Hailey was told to skip the question by a publicist, but later said: \u201cIt\u2019s always annoying being pitted against other people. I didn\u2019t ask for that.\u201d
\u201cWhen people want to see you a certain way and they\u2019ve made up a story about you in their minds, it\u2019s not up to you to change that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following the comment going viral online, Bieber was forced to clear up any confusion, once again.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think that this is about me, Hailey Bieber, and Selena Gomez,\u201d Bieber said during an appearance on Bloomberg\u2019s The Circuit<\/a>. \u201cThis is not about this pitting between two women \u2014 it\u2019s about the vile, disgusting hatred that can come from completely made-up and twisted, and perpetuated narratives that can be really dangerous.\u201d<\/p>\n

She went on to aptly add: \u201cTime and time again I say there is no issue, and it\u2019s so disappointing that people still behave this way over a man.\u201d<\/p>\n

Selena also spoke out about in a since-deleted Instagram story that read: \u201cJust leave the girl alone. She can say whatever she wants \u2026There is a room for everyone. And hopefully we can all stop.\u201d<\/p>\n
