The Sydney Kings\u2019 94-72 victory over the Perth Wildcats<\/a> was overshadowed by a controversial ejection of legendary coach Brian Goorjian, who was tossed late in the third quarter after receiving two quick technical fouls.<\/p>\n

With Sydney leading 65-58, Goorjian was visibly frustrated with a call, stamping his feet in reaction. As he walked back toward the bench, referee\u2019s issued him a technical foul for his non-verbal outburst. Shocked, Goorjian protested – only to be hit with a second technical and ejected from the game.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been in it 40 years and I don\u2019t remember ever being tossed – very rarely a technical,\u201d Goorjian said postgame.<\/p>\n

\u201cI got a technical last game for asking about a call. Then tonight, I mean, again, I\u2019m not going to defend myself, but you guys should watch it.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s [the referee] over there, I\u2019m facing the other way. I turn around, I\u2019m shocked. I\u2019ve done a lot more than that and not got a technical,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cUsually, as coaches, we all know where to tread. So if you\u2019ve got one, it\u2019s like – I\u2019m not going to go there. But it was like, boom, boom, gone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Clearly frustrated, Goorjian lamented the lack of communication from officials leading up to the ejection.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot even a warning. No conversation with them during the whole game,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo come out of that game like that, sit in here with my daughter who\u2019s trembling during the fourth quarter – it was really hard to swallow.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite being forced to watch the final quarter from the locker room, Goorjian was pleased with his team\u2019s dominant performance, which lifted the Kings to a 3-3 record.<\/p>\n

\u201cI enjoyed that on the television,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI got to come in here, fire up a cigar, kick my feet up and watch the fourth. So I\u2019m proud of the guys. I\u2019m proud of my coaching staff, proud of the team – and especially proud of Kouat [Noi] on his 150th game. He hit a big shot, defended, rebounded – that was huge for him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Noi, who finished with six points, praised his coach\u2019s passion and leadership.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt just shows he has our back – he\u2019s going to fight with us to the end,\u201d Noi said.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo go out there and get the win for him is huge.
