\n\tSeafarers\u2019 worst nightmare is back for more bloodshed.<\/p>\n
\n\t\u201dScreamboat<\/a>,\u201d the comedy-horror film which stars a murderous take on Steamboat Willie<\/a>, is set to have a sequel, the director of the first film announced. \u201cScreamboat,\u201d which was released earlier this year, was announced when the Disney precursor to Mickey Mouse entered the public domain in 2024.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI\u2019m thrilled to announce the sequel to our bloody horror comedy,\u201d director Steven\u00a0LaMorte said in a statement.\u00a0\u201cWe had so much fun bringing these iconic characters to life with a bloody\u00a0twist, and I look forward to returning to the world of \u2018Screamboat\u2019 to create even more\u00a0miniature murder and mayhem.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tLaMorte first teased the new chapter during his acceptance speech when \u201cScreamboat\u201d was named Best Public Domain Resurrection at the Oct. 19 Fangoria Chainsaw Awards.<\/p>\n \n\tThe sequel is set to begin development in 2026. While most of the cast is expected to return, no formal announcement has been made.<\/p>\n \n\tOne notable addition? A love interest for Steamboat Willie is set to join the chaos, as was teased at the end of the first film. The sequel \u201cwill continue the story and expand on the shocking cliffhanger ending of the first film \u2014 which teased the arrival of another murderous public-domain icon: Minnie,\u201d the filmmakers teased in the press release. \u201cFans can expect the sequel to build on that legacy with even more outrageous set pieces and gruesome comedy.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe original film was produced by Amy Schumacher, Martine Melloul, Steven Della Salla and Michael Leavy.
